When was the last time Sky mentioned marginal gains?

Regardless of whatever doping is going on, it is also perfectly possible that their vast budget affords them luxuries that other smaller teams cannot afford. It may be able to afford better organisation. It is also possible that these things help. Other riders have often commented that they do.

Does it mean they race clean? Of course not.

Yes, perhaps you are right. And maybe I am just mistaken regarding the extra ressources wealth brings to a cycling team.

Perhaps the combination of better/naturally gifted (?) riders, extra ressources to focus on details, organisation, diet etc. and access to top quality (and perhaps greater amounts of) doping really does result in the dominance we have been seeing from Sky.

The last 6-7 years surely does suggest this.

I think, I am just surprised, that the difference in performance levels between Sky and the other teams has been and still is so large. I would expect large and relatively wealthy teams such as Astana, Movistar, Bahrain-Merida to be able to at least to some extent close the gap. The best would of course be, if Sky's assumed doping advantage would be limited via anti-doping tests, but I am not that naive.

As expected, unfortunately.
Only question yet is if Thomas can keep Froome behind. And is allowed to.

Perhaps next year they will complete the top 3 of the race.

Froome playing the gentleman today to allow Thomas a morsel before the same story plays out in the Tour. No surprises as long as Sky are in cycling. Froome has the triple in the bag, this year. Maybe TT champion at World's as well. He has free reign, now. WADA have seen to it.

Every mountain stage somebody posts "Froome to go full genius". Doesn't happen more than it happens.

Don't complain. It isn't going to be a Froome walk over

Froome in a cakewalk. G is allowed his yellow jersey and stage win(s), but Froome will wear yellow in Paris, unless he crashes. That's a done deal.

We have just witnessed the greatest absurdity of the sport: The Magic Kenyan in display of his vast superiority allowed his team mate to win the stage while destroying all the GC rivals, just having G warmed up the Jersey for a bit, until he unleashes at will his ultimate blow in the 3rd week............................................... ALL AFTER WINNING IL GIRO

THIS IS BVLLSH!T

And winning the last Vuelta and the last Tour.

Even with doping, how is that physically possible?

I think Sky will be more than happy for Thomas to take yellow in order to shield Froome from some of the worst of the roadside abuse over the next week. Then let Froome take yellow in week 3. You can write the script already.

I don’t know. There is what Froome says and what Froome does. He can’t help himself. Thomas is not going to give up his one chance in history to win the Tour.

It’s the only interesting aspect of this Tour, is will these two attack each other and will the other chase.

Perhaps you missed what the head of the governing body said about Froome a couple of weeks ago.

Just so you know, the governing body is called the UCI, and it's head is called Lappartient.

You really should make the effort to follow the story
Wada governs anti-doping. You knew exactly what I meant as you has shown in another post (a bit silly to try to feign ignorance, it would have been a nicer snide attack had you not posted there... but hey).

But yeah, any claim by you for not running defense is evaporating quickly now. The strawman strategy is easy to call out.

Defence against what? What am I defending Sky from?

Clear dilemna when Thomas attacked and went clear but Froome just couldn't help himself in chasing down hiw own teammate.

He revealed another bit of his character again in that last 2km.

Wasn’t chasing down his own team mate. Chasing down Dumoulin. GT win + YJ was planned.

Dumoulin has an own thread. Few people believe he is clean. Its not his 4th GT in a row. Even less is he winning GT after GT. He was at least a talented junior. He looks at least like he is suffering/paying for efforts.

But lets focus on the important point: history is written directly in front of our eyes. If Froome wins this (and i have little doubt), we are lucky enough to witness one of the greatest athletic achievments in history.

Not really. It's not really an achievement when everyone knows they are not only doping at a high level but have WADA in their pocket to get away with anything they want. Plus a lot of people are just flat out tuning out.
