Fabian Cancellara tweeted:

There is the woman race in geelong and on the same time the grand final in melbourne. I am watching gr.final.... Go for St.Kilda.

At least he is barracking for the right team.

*

Apparently about 20 riders have already abandoned (at roughly mid point of race).

Edit: And apparently everyone else has gone to bed or switched over to the footy. :D

Lol! Fabian knows tweeting/commenting about the women's race will appeal to his adoring female fanbase. :D

And now I AM (for real) headed to bed (10 pm on Fri night here, and I'm old).

Peloton now down to about 60-70 riders.

Curi Mattis still about 2' 30" advantage.

Edit: Leader of the race just through the end of lap 5 ... 3 to go.

Still maybe 40 riders in the lead group. All the big names, of course. Slowly reeling Curi Mattis in.

Just over 35km to go.

Edit: Soon to pass through the start/finish line again.

Dutch on the front, brought the lead down to about 90 secs.

So far the race is very much like yesterday's U23 race.

Teutenberg & Longo now dropped a little off the back.

Edit: Curi Mattis now 38" in front of lead group.

The fast downhill

1 Tatiana Guderzo (Italy, defending champion) off the front.

Two splits but might come back together on 2nd climb.

Edit: Jeannie Longo on the back of the group

Cantele making a bit of a move on the 2nd climb

People might want to put acf on ignore for tonight. The Bogans are going to be celebrating now that the Maggies are winning the GF. Centrelinks and TABs around Melbourne are breaking out in partys as we speak!
