Of course you missed the prologue.

Namely, there wasn't a prologue this year. THe Giro opened with a very short time trial first stage.

Someone's in a bad mood ;)

Since this is the complaint topic....

I thought the british cycling fans were so annoyingly biased. Now I've watched a GP2 race with a british commentator. I've completely revised my scale of bias.

If any driver makes a pass, it's a dangerous, risky move....unless it's a british driver, in which case he's a scrappy fighter who never gives up and should be praised for his determination.

If anyone doesn't try to pass, he's passive and "doesn't want it bad enough"......unless it's a british driver, in which case he's being sensible and not taking unnecessary risks.

If anyone makes some opposite lock correction with the wheel, it's a big mistake that's going to cost them......but if a british driver does it, it's a lovely bit of car control.

Sam Bird overtook some guy for a completely anonymous 13th position that gives absolutely no points, nor does anyone care about. Cue the commentator renaming the corner (SEAT corner) as "Bird corner" and proceeding with screams (literally. screaming) such as "That's awesome", "That's MEGA", "That's fantastic", "Sam Bird that corner is officially yours. You own it", "Sam Bird Superstar" and many others.

Then proceeds to comment how the driver is a superstar in the making.

Ignoring the fact This is a slow driver all the way down in 13th place, a commentator is supposed to be exempt and unbiased.

Granted, he did apologize for "getting a bit girly and screamy", although considering the way he screamed, that's putting it mildly indeed. He was like this the entire race. Jesus Christ.

National bias is one of the most annoying things under the sun. It's also one of my pet peeves.

Rant out.

I'm feeling grumpy and need an outlet.

I just came back from the doctor who diagnosed my fourth case of bronchitis this year. I had it in January, February and April, with each bout being worse.

Now the cold weather is back and the bronchia are acting up again.

This does NOT make me happy.

Susan

Are you having any difficulties with your Kidney's? When Kidney's are not running on all "cylinders", so to speak, when they are not able to do their "job", which may mean the blood is not being filtered/cleansed as it should be, they, the Kidneys, pass the responsibility on to the lungs (vicarious avenue of elimination). It may not be your case, but if it is, then, the lungs can become overburdened with the responsibility and you may experience what you are now experiencing. Any Kidney issues? Consuming "anything" that might make life difficult for the kidneys?

OUr 16-year-old son was hit in the face by a football hooligan yesterday on his way to the Bundesliga game. The police know who did it and are expectd to take action this week.

The stadium doctor and the doctor at the hospital emergency room where I took him last night both said it may or may not be broken. Looks like we are off to a specialist tomorrow.

Susan

Was it a random unprovoked attack? Who were the two teams playing?

My son may be seriously inured, I'm working on mother's day, and had to clean up the kitchen after my husband and son prepared brunch, and you expect a good mood?

Susan: I don't pray anymore but if I did it would be that your son, and you too come out of this OK. This is more important than cycling. I do appreciate the great job you do as moderator, commentator and reporter. Thank you.

Thanks all for the comments and support, which I only just saw.

yes, it was an uprovoked attack by a fan of the opposing team. An adult, by the way, attacking a minor (16 yrs.old) which will make it a harder punishment. The police know who it was and we will be sure that charges are pressed.

We have been in and out of doctor's offices and hospitals -- please don't ask my opinion of the medical profession at the moment!

We think he is getting better (has only needed one pain pill so far today). I am doing fine, don't worry, staying calm and working away.

Thanks again.

That is terrible Susan...I do hope everything comes out well for your son!! I hope he is handling everything well...in addition to his mother and father!!

Take care!

It has certainly been a learning experience for all of us.

I have been very thankful this week that I work at home, and that my colleagues have been very understanding. The work has been a good distraction for me. My husband, on the other hand, says he has had a terrible time at work because he absolutely can't concentrate on anything.

LOL, what a great mental image! Thanks.

Now for a new complaint: the weather absolutely SUCKS. This is May -- I expect sunshine and warmth, not constant drizzle and 7° Celsius!

Just think how bad it would be if Global Climate Change was real! Here in my part of Wisconsin Spring came 10-14 days early and everyone was expecting a great morel season, except that it has not warmed at night, and is now colder than norma = bad morel seasonl.... a friend brought me this BIG ONE, indicative of the end of the season that never really started.

* Getting a couple of mechanicals during my road race and having to chase like crazy to get back on;
* People going to front and increasing the pace by surging, or trying to attack, only to get pulled back, and therefore the speed in the bunch slows right down, lucky there wasn't a crash; and
* People who attack so constantly. Dude, you are 15km into a 70km road race, you're not going to ride away on your own, and if did get a few people, you won't get very far. And if you could get away, you would be racing A grade instead.

The washing machine's spin cycle decided to stop working last night, leaving me with a soggy load of jeans and sweaters. My husband has already repaired it once, don't know if it is worth doing again. I'll have to dig out the papers and see how old the machine is.

Saying applicable for susan...
