He personally hopes he can achieve top 15

Did he mention if he'll ride for GC in Romandie or Dauphine or anything beforehand?

The finish of stage 2 is a little uphill when you see the profile for the last 5k - if people really want a gap there is just about enough in the stage to make it happen.

JTL will find a way.

Though it's marked as flat, Ithey're doing the historic Ávila finish, which is something we can hold on to; while not steep, it's got some cobbled sections and certainly offers somewhere to attack, as the late Frank Vandenbroucke shows here.

This is the climb, outside the Murallas de Ávila, the famous city walls:

And here's the profile:

1,3km at 4,2% is never going to cause any great splits, but 8% on cobbles is enough for somebody to make a move, especially given it's the main spot to make one in a race for the guy who can sprint from a reduced bunch, in Spain.

What is happenning with British Eurosport?

Last year they showed 3 days of De Panne and this year they dont.

They also had 90 mins delayed coverage in the evening last year of GW and this year they didnt.

And now they are not showing the Tour of the Basque Country.

This is a disaster.:(

What, no Pais Vasco?

Home of Cycling no more.

translated from biciciclismo:

After his training yesterday [at] Dunc Gray Velodrome in Australia, the Russian team rider Ivan Kovalev was hit by a car traveling at excess speed. Kovalev flew over the hood of the car and hit his head against the hard ground. The driver of the vehicle involved did not stop.

A few minutes after the incident police arrived and the ambulance. He moved to the rider to the hospital and began searching the car escaped, which was found in less than an hour.

Kovalev was taken to hospital for further examination. Not sure yet gravity, but is wounded in the head and shoulder and his participation in the upcoming World Championship is uncertain.

Ivan Kovalev is part of RusVelo, and takes part in the team pursuit, where the Russians are considered a candidate for a position on the podium.

There's definitely something wrong in Aussie driving habits.

what happened to Rob Ruijgh? Wasn't he supposed to be the dutch hope for the big win this year?

hehe funny though, ruijgh our big hope? unlikely :p

poels, gesink, mollema, hoogerland, perhaps even westra, but not ruijgh, he was only a possible top 20 candidate

Ruijgh has come to be a bit overrated by the Tour du Jour crowd, after all he was the best Dutchman in the Tour... but the national laughing stock Gesink had to pace him up the Alpe d'Huez. I see him as a possibly useful domestique for Poels and maybe Westra.

I should have added a smiley to my statement.

I was just remembering that quotation by theyoungest

You mean Ruijgh. Yeah, the guy has become way overrated in Holland, whereas elsewhere I doubt anyone has noticed him.
