After reading a translation of the article though, not sure why it was against the law to train in double file. I'm sure here, in Western Australia, you're allowed to ride side by side (but no more). Might be a Victoria state rule.

Haven't read the article, but you can ride two abreast legally in Victoria.

There has to be more to it then that video suggests surely

Police here just don't pull you over for no apparent reason. Their asses would be in a sling quicker then you could say "police harassment".

English version from Google said:
Philippe Gilbert and his colleagues on the selection of Belgium have been arrested by local police today during a training session in Geelong for traveling in pairs, according to Sporza

The Belgian riders pedaling in two rows along the Great Ocean Road, a popular route along the south coast of Australia, which apparently is not allowed.

Gilbert and other cyclists were held for 15 minutes until Dirk De Wolf, director of Omega Pharma-Lotto, might solve the problem and the Belgians were able to continue his training, however, in single file.

So does that mean they were wrong?

No, that just means that picking Australia for the worlds was a big mistake and a joke.

To think that organisations like Fifa never even pay taxes in the host country....

Mercedes is the auto sponsor/supplier, not the name sponsor

And you didn't predict it, it was announced in the Luxembourg press about two weeks ago. So not really news at all.

I think is was that the follow vehicle was making it too sketchy for cars and trucks behind to pass. The organizers didn't do enough prep work with the police..adding a few 1000 cyclists in an area should have been some planning for special needs..Went to a couple events at the World Equestrian games in KY..if you have anything to do w horses you get special treatment. When the games end so does all their goodwill.but during the event no petty tickets. Geelong can be a pretty hairy place to ride..not the cops but some of the drivers are plain wacked

ACtually he has not been cleared at all. The provisional suspension stemming from his positive A sample has been lifted. It will be re-imposed if the B sample is also positive, and it will then be up to the Spanish federation to hold disciplinary hearings.

Lifting the temporary suspension is in no way a ruling as to his guilt or innocence.

And this is drifting into Clinic territory, so if there is any futher discussion, let's do it there.

What really happened on the final stage of the Circuit Franco-Belge? Did a whole bunch of riders DNS/DNF, or were they really did finish outside the time limit (HD)?

according to the local newspaper here they finished outside the time limit...

interview with gilbert on sporza in which he says he's gonna try and win another classic before the season ends. Paris-Tours will be difficult with the jetlag but lombardia will aparantly be his next big goal...

gotta love the guy...

Any news of when we'll next see Hushovd ?_?

Nope. He should be on his way back to Europe right now, after that he wouldn't say more about what should happen next. He had a surgery planned because of the collarbone he broke earlier in the season but he might change that and wait. And the he would like to go to Norway for a visit, but nothing confirmed.

He will likely not race until next year so my guess is he'öö next ride perhaps Tour down under or Qatar+Oman unless he takes a late season start. He used to start in the french season openers but the plan at Garmin might be different. I would perhaps make sense to go back to australia to show off his jersey.
