It seems Colombia and Katusha won't be included in the Tour.
( or the ASO are planning to invite them for the Tour, so decided to give chances for other teams in the other races)

Indeed but a Giro/Vuelta double will be better for Colombia, in my opinion. Of course they have some great talents but, correct me if I'm wrong, they have only 2 riders with GT expericience.

their only problem os their roster is way too small. but they are going to get riders somewhere through the season if they are invited to the tour

that doesn't mean anything. sojasun aslo isn't invited to dauphinee. it's more likely that sojasun adn colombia will get invited but therefore won't get dauphinee wildcard.

if they do the Giro, how they can even do the dauphinee few weeks later? better to focus on the Vuelta...

they have more than 9 riders of course and those coming out of the giro would be in excellent shape

I don't think they have the depth for it. Maybe I'm wrong though but I have troubles looking past Atapuma, Duarte and Chaves as riders that can have some sucess at the moment at the highest level.

they have more better riders, but they should step up this year. atapuma definitely isn't in their top 5 biggest talents imo. he only rode so well because he stayed in colombia longer to train. still they should be getting riders throughout the season that can add a lot. for instance their ct team is almost better than pct team but there's a lot of political games as always in colombian cycling teams...

I hadn't realised Coquard was so young; nice start to his road career.

There's a seasonable track record for endurance trackies becoming sprinters on the road.

Every omnium I saw him compete in he seemed to win the elimination race, that must be a good grounding for the road..

Agreed, he has greater endurance than most track riders but he is still very young so I don't think he will feature in hard races this year (still he should transition more easily than a Theo Bos for example).
BTW with Bouhanni, Démare and now Coquard, the French have a solid generation of sprinters coming up. Unfortunately that might mean even more bunch sprints at the TDF to keep the home crowd happy.

They still have to beat the Goss, Greipel, Cavendish and Sagans of the world. But yes, they surely have a very good generation coming up, and not just sprinters if we think of Pinot, Elissonde, Jeanesson, Offredo, Soupe, Vichot, Bardet, Simon... They just seem to miss a top level time trialist

Can we have a small races 2013 thread pinned again rather than have race results mixed in with news?
