ps. very good news for Mtn-Qhubeka!

No, Netapp didn't withdraw its Vuelta wild card bid, that must be some mistake.

Quite a few WT teams struggle to come up with two meaningful GT campaigns in one season. I doubt NetApp would be good over two GTs this year. Better to give the Vuelta wildcard to another team imo.
Good point, but IAM and Cofidis are the same, so they didn't give the card to another team. So I don't get how can you not to give wildcard to team which animated last race in so good way. This is pretty sh**

Don't worry, König's targeting the Tour, you won't miss out on a Czech GC tilt. In actuality since ASO controls both races it's probably part of a deal. NetApp got the Vuelta as a consolation prize for no Tour last year, so since they've got the Tour this year no need for the consolation prize. MTN get the consolation this year.

This is a bummer! He just keeps getting hit with sickness.

According to the BBC, the race he is missing is the "Grand Prix de l'Escaut", which I had never heard of. According to Wikipedia, this French name for a race that has never taken place in French speaking areas, fell out of use in English speaking circles in the early 1990s. Good old Beeb.

well, since French is one of the 3 official languages of Belgium, the Grand Prix de l'Escaut is acceptable. French and Walloons call that race that way :D

Not really my point. A news service exists to provide information. To attempt to do so while using uninformative names, effectively redundant to the target audience for 20 years or more, is to unmask the information providers as less informed than their audience.

In France it is known ast the Grand Prix de l'Escault. Since the British cycling coverage is heavliy tour centered, most of their indirect sources (listings, websites, etc...) are probably in french... Would make sense.

Hi, I know this is the wrong 'thread' but does anyone know why I can no longer login to this forum on my iPhone ??

Or direct me to the right place to ask this question.

Thanks

The latest, and maybe final, chapter in Robert Gesink's sad career: he has heart arrhythmia, possibly stress-related. This is the reason he quit the Giro, and Pais Vasco, and probably a few other races as well, Dutch newspaper AD reveals.

^^ Not possible, but likely. Physiological reasons for the issues weren't found and the problems manifested itself primarily in European races.
That's what Thijs Zonneveld makes of it, yes. But he seems a bit pi$$ed off about an exclusive deal for an interview that now fell through, and inclined to fill in the blanks himself. I'd rather wait for the press conference.
