The stage finish in Vicenza will be between 21st and 23rd of May according to a local newspaper, and it will come from the Garda Lake. It could be either a flat or uphill finish. Pretty sure it will be the stage after the MTT. That would mean having the MTT on 21st, straight after a post-Galibier rest day, and Vicenza on 22nd.

That is starting to look pretty good to me, depends on stage design of course.

It's actually starting to look like a standard recent Giro. ;)
With a ITT in the first week it would be really good. (it's still to know how the Gavia stage will look like - probly today we'll see it.)

Pardon my ignorance, but Monte Jafferau is unpaved and not suited for road bikes, right? What's the idea there?
I don't remember if they paved the last 2.5 kms, but it won't really be a problem.

very interesting article about the first week in Calabria: stage 4 will finish in Guardia Piemontese, on the west coast. The next stage will start from Cetraro and head south towards Reggio Calabria (not clear where exactly). Finally, stage 6 will start from Cosenza and finish somewhere in Puglia, a stage which would be very long.
So the first week is finally starting to have a defined shape. Stage 3,4 and 5 could be either hilly or bunch sprints. There's plenty of opportunity there, let's see what they've chosen. Stage 6 should be mostly flat, at least in the second half.

There's a little rumour that stage 8 could be a mountain stage in Abruzzo.

Now, for the Galibier-->Mori transfer, I reckon they could make a stage on Monday to return to Italy and then the rest day. Who knows.

After the huge success of Amaury's 150km stages, RCS have decided that the longest mountain stage in 2013 will be 170km.

Hopefully Galibier gets snowed out and they just do Cenis MTF. Actually that would never happen, they'd just finish in Valloire

i think they are paying some sort of tribute to Coppi's ride over the galibier on the snow in 1952. i could be wrong tho

Ah yes the classic 51st anniversary celebration. Seriously though, it was the reasoning for alpe last year but they never did it. Pointless.to celebrate this now if they didn't last year.

i like 150k stages policy. it can provoke earlier action plus anyhow combines with anti-doping course. rather this stage is tribute to famous pantani's escape. the stage is great, not because schleck won galibier, just the finish climb is really tough and such a stage is perfectly preceeded by harder stages in the third week, what don't you like?

Isn't there something between the madness of Zomegnan and this 150k bs?

what's the use of 220k stages if they give the same results as 150km ones? Do you watch stages entirely or think that number of km's can affect on result drastically?

Okay, this is NOT good:

"The next Giro will be of course a very tough race," said Acquarone. "We used to say it's the toughest race in the world with all the mountains, but the next year will be very well-balanced.

"I spoke to all the teams and all the teams said they care about the Giro, but now they want to see the route so they can figure out the best riders to come.Bradley Wiggins, Alberto Contador, Cadel Evans, Vincenzo Nibali and all the other big stars are very welcome, but we have to wait to understand their programmes.

"Next year will be the 100th anniversary of the Tour de France, and they will have to choose. I believe they can come to the Giro, have a very good Giro and then go do the Tour. I hope they will try to get the double. If they want to try to do something really special then next year will be a very good year to try."
