no he wouldn't, unless it's on stage 20. He doesn't want gaps at all. uphill or flat doesn't matter.

Come on, some of the stages they had earlier in the Vuelta this year could have been enough to create huge gaps.

Anyway, the MTT of Monte Grappa is still not sure so just wait and see :p
Frankly I think it's more likely than Kronplatz because the latter would mean an enormous amount of transfers. Between two MTFs. From Panarotta to S.Vigilio (where Kronplatz starts) it's more than 150 km. From there to Maniago, for stage 20, it's another 150 km, this time without any highway.

Otoh, from Panarotta to Bassano there are 70 km, and from there to Maniago 110 km, with highways.

Purito should race the Giro next year. With Froome, Nibali and Contador going to the Tour he would be up against the likes of Porte/Kreuziger... Could be a good opportunity for a long awaited GT win.

Looks like a 3km climb at 6%, followed by what looks like another 1.5km at around 6% to finish.

My type of time trial.

The race feels a little MTF heavy so far but at least they've done something good, put mountain stages on the penultimate weekend.

great, the start is 30 km from where I live. time to visit to the Giro after a few years!
wind could be a factor on the main road in the valley between Baraccone and Cherasco, wide road and wide valley.

Has a Grand Tour ever started on a friday and/or had three rest days? Anyone know whether being a volunteer is worth it or is it more like hard work in which you miss the fun element?

Yep. Another confirmation that the silly UCI rules are worth nothing. They should just cancel everything and preserve paper (or bytes).

The 1987 tour de france started on a tuesday and had 25 racing days (26 stages). It only had 2 restdays.
