Laugh of the day: Reichenbach bridging to Dumoulin, Nibali and Quintana without a guess of what happened.

He was so confused. He was about to blow past them, realized Dumoulin was going to grab his wheel, and figured he should probably not pull that group to Pinot.

Embarrassing a team like Movistar can't crack one man. Very poor from NQ, times running out.

in all fairness, quintana got the gap. But FDJ chased them instead of letting Dumo chased. So they foiled the attack. Luckily Pinot can benefit at the end. If not, that's just a waste of snuffing attack.

as far as Quintana, this double is getting impossible to achieve looks like. He has to dig deep now to beat Dumo. (Just like contador ended up too exhausted). With the way Dumo rides, I think he has a really huge shot to win it.

Idiotic by Dumoulin wasting energy like this.

On the contrary, perfect thing to do. He calmed things down, and let "the right guys" go. He's flawless so far in this Giro. But surely he will crack, no? :p

Was very nice tactics by FDJ today. Absolutely hidden for the first 120km, then get their guy a minute or so with a strong performance when it matters.

Actually if Nibali/Quintana want to win this is even a better situation.
Good luck controlling this:

1 Tom Dumoulin (Ned) Team Sunweb 80:00:48
2 Nairo Quintana (Col) Movistar Team 0:00:31
3 Vincenzo Nibali (Ita) Bahrain-Merida 0:01:12
4 Thibaut Pinot (Fra) FDJ 0:01:36
5 Ilnur Zakarin (Rus) Katusha-Alpecin 0:01:58
6 Domenico Pozzovivo (Ita) AG2R La Mondiale 0:02:07
Unless Dumoulin cracks big time and loses 2 minutes on the final climb tomorrow, he doesn't have to care about any of them.

Why? The profile is not advantageous the next 2 days. Sunweb will be able to be in the front a lot more.

Yeah, I still think he will do.

Think that energy may have been better spent on chasing Pinot and Zakarin, or just keep it in reserve for tomorrow. Recovery is still the key here. There's now four guys he seriously has to mark inthe next few days, but I guess Pinot and Zakarin are not yet major threats.

Lol Tom trolling Nibali and Quintana in the interview as well. :D
Hubris usually comes before nemesis.

Ooor the interview troll was probably the nail on the coffin.
Quintana looked psychologically blown to me in the interview. Deservedly I must add.

Quintana may not be the best climber in the world (Froome) but he is certainly better than any other riders here. One poor showing does not erase years of results, and instead of just focusing on the Giro like Dumoulin he is trying to win the Tour as well.

I think at this point he should skip the Tour and race the Vuelta instead. Better to win one race than lose two.

I think the problem with Quintana, and the problem I have with Quintana, is that he believed he could win the Giro without being 100%. Which will obviously cost him the Giro, and also shows an arrogance I'm not that fond of.

As previous post got deleted... why is not coming here at 100% (if true) arrogant? You always got highest marks on your school reports?

Heh, Dumoulin "Quintana and Nibali only focus on me, [...], would be nice if they lose their podium spot in Milan" :D

"If there is a simple battle and Dumoulin is alone, the pink jersey has to close [down] everyone who attacks him. If I'm fourth and he asks me to work I won't do a turn, because finishing third or fourth won't change my life."

Today was "the day" to break Tom. Neither Nibs, nor Quintana can drop him. And by looking at tomorrow's profile, the last climb actually suits Tom like a glove.

Bottom line: unless he has another stomach upset issue, I'm saying Tom is set to win Il Giro.
The accumulated MTF finishes may take their toll on TD, stage 20 will be "the day" for Quintana and Nibali to attack relentlessly.

agreed - but Quintana, being the closest to Tom, must have 3 minutes min. of advantage over him prior to the last ITT.

To you and everyone insulting Quintana (and Nibali). This. is. sport.

End of story, or shut the **** up to the clinic and prepare godmode blood for everyone.

I ain't insulting anybody. The man who is supposedly a much better GT rider with no doubt the strongest team in this race have failed dealing with a one man band when it came NQ's terrain. NQ has obviously not got the form he would have liked or he seriously underestimated his rivals. Its takes more to win a GT than being the best going up high mountains it seems.

Loved the comments by Dumoulin.
At the same time I think both Quintana and Nibali did the right thing.

Really? The next two stages are pretty weak. Low gradients tomorrow and Stage 20 is overrated, shouldn't be too much of a problem for Dumoulin.
He's got this.

Nibs and Quintana should of teamed up, gone full out on the attack and work hard together. Instead they raced separately, with separate attacks and separate tactics

The fact that Orica's Plaza who put in a monster ride, continually was able to go back to the front of Movistar shows that the pace was not going to bother Dumoulin at all. Plaza was Movistar's best domestique for sure.
Plaza's such a strong rider. I think he would have won a GT if only Kelme would have continued for another couple of years.

Two thoughts. Firstly, very happy for TJ, that must mean the world to him right now. Secondly - TD appears very strong and it's looking like a long shot for the others. Considering where everyone finished, NQ and Nibs may not be that strong right now.
