Yeah, but at the same time the rivalry between the various provinces of the Veneto region can be crazy. He's from the province of Vicenza and they call them Vicentini magniagatti (cat eaters). Franky that's not even that inaccurate, people in that area where eating bats up until the 1950s and certain northern Italian cooking books can be wild, you even find stuff like recipes for cooking a fox...

Just incredible scary to think that Thomas's shape in this Giro was the one that granted him a 3rd place in the Tour where he was 7m22s behind Vingo.

It's pretty funny that he and Van Wilder finished together today after following the exact opposite pacing strategies.
G has been on amazing form. Funny thing is, Tao was even stronger.
But that shape - anywhere below 10 minutes of Tour-winning shape of the chosen fews - is about the required shape you expect to contend a Giro win these days, I guess?
Yes. And its not like the level in the Giro is low, its just that Vingegaard and Pogacar is so much better.
Stage win proving to be elusive for Pinot but I guess he would take a top 10 finish and the KOM jersey in his final Giro. Dunbar showing he has a future as a GT rider.
That was an enormously important stage for Thomas. An improved Roglic still didn't come close to dropping him and he gained a potentially crucial cushion for the TT on Almeida. It's not over yet and both his rivals might still be in striking distance for the final TT, but it's looking really really good for him.

But i think Van Wilder didn't suffer nearly as much overall. I wonder if this will show on the MTT.
TGH was in his best GT form since he won the Giro. Shame it ended early for him.
Kämna is turning into prime Zubeldia/Meintjes. Not a single stage top 10. Always sitting at the back of the group. Among the first GC guys to be dropped. Pacing himself and limiting the damage. Gaining time on other GC guys that tried to follow the best and exploded.
