So before you obviously have seen the stages, what do you think of the route? Myself, I have no clue...
It depends too much on the MTT. If they do the MTT, its position is the worst possible. Without the MTT this is a pretty good route. Nothing great but pretty good. I'm particularly pleased by the total absence of hard MTFs.

Harder/easier than Campitello Matese (which was the hardest MTF, right?). I liked that, alltho I would have liked one really hard MTF.

The hardest MTF next year will be Risoul, which is more or less the same as Campitello. I won't miss hard MTFs, really.
My only concern with the mountain stages as they are rumoured, is their altitude.

Great news, although I wish the sterrato stage wouldn't have such long ascents. I hope they will at least use some sterrato on the way to Arezzo.

To be honest though, this climb looks really good. There is also much steeper way from Le Poggiacce (including 4 km at 12%), but there the first half is paved and in the unpaved part the switchbacks are probably too steep.

no montevergine? that's a sin, right here.
I wouldn't miss it tbh. But I still find hard to believe that Montevergine has dropped... it was talked about as an absolute certainty by journos, local authorities, politicians and such. We'll see...

How far away from the finish would Alpe di Poti be?
the peak will be approximately at 15 kms from the finish, if I understood correctly the circuit. They will descend this side http://www.salite.ch/11773.asp?Mappa=, and then a few kms flat in Arezzo
Normally I'd prefer the sterrato climb to be more far away of the finish, but in this case its probably good because there is an ITT the next day.

What would be so bad about the Seiser Alm mtt Eshnar? Kronplatz and I guess Schneiderwiesen would be a tougher location. But is Seiser Alm really that bad?

I think Eshnar's problem is the placing. Such a hard mtt would destroy any action on the epic stage to corvara, the day before.

exactly. Plus, a MTT up Siusi would favour even more the pure climbers. If they really have to put a MTT on stage 15, I hope at least is somewhat mixed, as it would be if they do it to Andalo.

Thats one heck of a stage, imagine things getting wild on Porzus (which they probably will). Hope the seven flat kilometers wont scare anybody if they have got the legs to tear it apart. Nibali likes this!

Epic stage to Corvara? Really? What climbs can we expect on this stage?

Corvara in Badia? Where you could either do Sella, Gardena from west or Valparola (and Giau) from east?

Either way, I don't really see what is epic about that. Valparola after Giau means a flat part of perhaps 10 km from La Vila to Corvara. And if they do the eastern approach I certainly hope they will use Fedaia before Sella.

Can you maybe do a stage like you did to Cividale del Friuli where you predict it? :p
Much harder... there are plenty of options. The stage I just posted, raced in 2002, is one of the likeliest two imo. The other being sth like Staulanza-Giau-Valparola, maybe preceeded by another climb (don't think they would also throw the Duran in)

The cividale stage is good but as the Corvara stage, I am not sure if the racing will be good too. 7 flat km's aren't that much but if there are two clearly harder stages on the next two days I doubt we will see big attacks, also because the 1st cat. climb is the penultimate one. I think the gt's should start to use such stages as their final mountain stages (with maybe one more climb before)

Yes, it will maybe scare some. It will all come down to the race situation, are there some stronger riders who need to gain time and which stages will tehy slot into the 14th stage etc. I think you can create the best route, but we also need some lucky circumstances in order to make it great, but the race creators can greatly influence the chance of that happening.

They did it in the Vuelta and that delivered, but again, mainly due to how the race situation was at that point. Had Aru led by 3 minutes and the GC was settled, it was just another breakaway day. But they should definetely try to shake it up a little so it doesnt comes down to the hardest climb on the penultimate day.

Send Pierre Rolland up the road in the Friuli stage and see how things pan out from there.

As to the Staulanza-Giau-Valparola idea, those are three great climbs but I shall scream with great fury if this is the option they take.

FEDAIA!!!

Another article "confirming" Benevento as stage finish. Montevergine seems definitely dropped (rumours say it's because of logistical problems, as the funicular that always helped RCS to bring the stuff uphill is out of service and it's unclear if it'll be available by next May)

I do not really like this route. It seems there aren't stages with hard combo like Finestre-Sestriere or Mortirolo-Aprica. I hope they put Fedaia at least.
None hard MTF also.

Bah
