All the talk about Lopez not needing to take a turn, I would still assume that Lopez wants to distance Pozzovivo completely. He could show the decency to take a turn once in a while, if he can somehow strike a deal with Carapaz to do the same thing

This. Thank you. Fully agreed!

why FDJ working????? Do they want Dum to win? burn out Dum then take time out of him on final climb.
Yes and that way Froome wins and Tibo is 2nd
I thought you were a Pinot fan? 2nd is the best he could ever hope for.

Pinot fans hope for the good in cycling, helping Froome always represents working for the forces of the devil.

Why are people bitching about Superman? Superman is taking an option to get himself onto the podium while doing next to nothing. Why would he care if Froome or Dumoulin won? Pinot and Carapaz are his rivals.
Yep, it's laughable to be moaning about Lopez or Carapaz for not working. They have almost nothing to lose by sitting tight and letting everyone around them tire themselves out. And almost nothing to gain by taking pulls on the flat.

The gap isn't extending too much anymore.

Long range, but Froome won't win the Tour, this Giro has been extremely hard. Like almost 2015 hard.
There is absolutely NOTHING Froome can't do.

Look good on a bike, he really can‘t do that.
Assuming that looking like a bag of potatoes is a skill in itself, then Froome is pretty good at that

One thing nobody might think about yet but which could become quite important is that Froome might massively pay for todays effort tomorrow. Even if he gets pink today, this is far from over.
If he has pink

there is 0 chance he pays for it tomorrow.

I agree, he is now in shape, not like in Zoncolan, just with rain he could pay, but tomorrow everybody will pay the effort, and he is a man for 3 weeks, if 4 weeks better.

Brilliant idea to wait a minute for a climber who's not strong enough to take turns and ride hard enough on Sestriere.

I feared this could happen. They gambled 45 sec for nothing. It must hurt and Froome could realistically take pink today..

What we shouldn't forget is that Carapaz is even further behind in the gc, so he will care even less about what Froome and Dumoulin do. Now people can care about the white jersey competition or not, but teams who need wins definitely do and if Carapaz doesn't chase and Lopez does he basically hands the white jersey to Carapaz. In other words, not helping Dumoulin simply makes sense.

That last thing just isn't true. Froome, even at his best, tends to struggle on the final few stages of a GT.

Can't one find a riders style of riding poor and panache-less? Not questioning any tactical decision here. They already did this in Sappada (if I remember correctly). Worst way of riding for my liking tbh.

At this stage, they are going to win nothing because Froome is going solo win. This is funny.

Problem for Dumoulin - Another long descent to come.
That's a power descent though on wide roads. Froome shouldn't gain as much there.
Froome can be immense on those though - like the Peyresourde. If Dumoulin wants to wait for Pinot and Reichenbach, then Froome could easily pull out another 20-30 seconds.
