Froome's spoken about being chased by Rhino & Buffalo whilst riding in Kenya. Dumoulin is good, but not quite as scary.

The gap is increasing but Carapaz and Lopez are still doing nothing.
Of course, they are not riding against Froomey, but podium and stage win.

To be honest - they should ridde then too. Distance Pozzovivo even more.
They could, but they are playing Froome out against Dumo + Pinot and against Pozzo while doing nothing. Its pretty textbook if you ask me with the last climb in mind.

How can Froome still gain time? This is insane

We‘ll if he is going all in, risking to explode and the others are not, that might be the reason. We still have to see if he can really can keep this going. But on the other hand: consodering the doping case, maybe he doesn‘t give a *** anymore how blatantly obvious he is doing clinic stuff. But I should stop right there. Only the race...

I suspect the Dumoulin group made a tactical mistake - They needed to drill the last km of the Finestre to drop Carapaz and Lopez who have been no help in the chase and then chase harder in the valley.
Yeah, they were gaining on Froome on the last part, but then Pinot's mechanical happened, and Dumoulin slowed down to get him back. But if Dumoulin had just been on his own at the summit of Finestre, I'm almost certain he'd have caught Froome

Froome's better managing his effort on shallow gradients than Dumoulin.
He's just a much better climber full stop if he's in top form. Which, out of nowhere, he now seems to be.

Out of nowhere, being so much better all of a sudden, is what bothers me

It was the plan all along to build into form for week 3, and all he has done is one attack which got 50s at most (?) and most from the decent.

This is better than Fuente De, this is better than Galibier, this is the best thing ive ever seen

If Froome had been off the podium in some more GTs, I guess we'd have seen some more days like this.
I feel that we've been robbed now of a great era in cycling. If only Froome would have been riding for Caja Rural or Cofidis, we'd have got this every year.
