I don't get why Carapaz and Lopez can't just easily ride Dumoulin off their wheel. I mean they haven't been in the wind for 70 kilometers and this climb should suit them well.

Because Superman has been struggling all stage. He nearly got dropped on Finestre when guys like Pello were still chilling.

He's just a very average climber. He can do a short punch or sprint uphill, but not nearly in the same class as Dumoulin, Pinot or Froome.

Because Superman has been struggling all stage. He nearly got dropped on Finestre when guys like Pello were still chilling.

He's just a very average climber. He can do a short punch or sprint uphill, but not nearly in the same class as Dumoulin, Pinot or Froome.

For the same reason they've lost 7 minutes to him so far this Giro. He is stronger.

They must have been pushing about 150W for the last hour and still can't drop him on the climb!!!!??

it's completely different scenario. Everyone has been giving it all for 90km. No-one just sitting in a big peloton getting a free draft for most of the day.

Dumo and Froome have been riding against each other on their own pretty much. No reason for the gap to come down. Pinot Lopez and Carapaz should take chunks out of Froome when they attack though

I'm kinda upset Froome will be in pink after this, if he were behind Dumoulin we'd see another solo tomorrow.
