I just dont understand the Dumoulin fans - first Yates had the race won easily and the question was if it was 4 or 5 minutes. Now its not being able to enjoy such an epic stage cause your favourite didnt win. And on both stages (Sappada and Jafferau), you guys have been expecting Carapaz, Lopez etc. to help Dumoulin out.

I mean, come on. We have witnessed some insane racing.

Absolutely - none of them needed to help him. In fact it was in their interest to leave him out front and then try and take him on the climb which they tried, but didnt quite manage.

You're wrong. Everyone needs to help Tom out because he's a nice guy.

Froome top performances, Ventoux 2013, PSM 2015, now add Finestre/Sestriere 2018. In what order we will know in half an hour or so. If he pulls on pink I reckon it could usurp Ventoux.

Yes, it tops all of them. Incredible.

The race is far from over though. If he could struggle that much on stage 15 after stage 14, then a complete collapse is possible tomorrow. Three long climbs. If you don't have the legs than it doesn't matter how strong your team is.

Still, Froome is back into favouritism for now, and even if he doesn't win the Giro, no cycling fan will ever forget stage 19.

During the short interview Froome said that he tried not to ride over his limit today and that his leegs are feeling really good. So he probably has something left for tomorrow.

I think it's definitely not a given. This kind of effort, anything can happen. The other guys were weaker than he was, for sure, but they weren't going all out for 80km.

Not even finished by the time Froome took the podium. Is this the greatest single blow up / loss in a day by the GC leader?

Kelly lost 13? minutes in the 83 Tour.

Other than sprinters on the first day in the mountains I can’t think of another blowup that comes close.

After stage 8 i kinda called it "Im thinking Yates and Pozzo have been so strong they must surely have come in peaking too early and will surely fade in the 3rd week. Although they haven't shown much yet I still believe Froome, Aru and Superman will be up there if they can get through today and particularly tomorrow without big losses". Dammit Fabio.

Froome looked a lot more comfortable at the finish today compared to the Zoncolan. Sky will be back in their comfort zone tomorrow.
