Why in theory do the Peleton have to follow FDJ? Why cant they let them TTT up to the break if they don't want to hard pedal?
Démare will still have the jersey tonight and there are 3 possible sprints in the next 3 days, where he's a lot better than Sagan anyway. Don't know why they were so worried today.
Amazing that the rest of the break were willing to fight with Sagan rather than tell him to get lost.

We can now say he should have definitely stayed with the break. Hindsight is 20/20Not sure if he could outsprint him but at least try to disturb the organization in the break and try to contest it at least. You never know with Sagan sprinting tactics/abilities those days haha.
Démare is definitely not coming to the finish on Thursday or Friday.
Not an easy task to dig in after the chase. For the life of me, I cannot understand why nobody went up the road, when FDJ gave up and the gap was below a minute.

Maybe not Thursday but he can be at the finish on Friday. Look at the profiles of when he finished 1-2 at Wallonie, Luxembourg, Poitou-Charentes, National Championships...

I think people were pretty gassed and relieved to get a breather. It wasn't exactly an easy gap to close as evidenced by the failed chase.
The terrain is hard enough for a long solo attack IMO. If he has a gap nobody should really bring him back on the flats and I'm not sure who's better than him uphill here.So Ganna is clearly going to try grab another here but when will he try go? Does he back his climbing in the company of the others or does he make a bigger solo effort? Just after the 2nd intermediate looks a good option as you'd think he needs to make a difference before the really steep stuff but it's a long way out
