And here comes the whiners...
As in, people complaining about it on the internet, not the riders.
All we want is Panem et circenses. Not asking too much :D

How does being in a bus at the stage start inform riders of the conditions of the descents of the stage?

I'd still wager they have a better knowledge than us sitting in Denmark...

I dunno, 5 hours in the freezing cold or pouring rain, trying to find my golf ball that I can’t hit straight is no fun.

Even worse if it's snowing, and you're using a white ball, I imagine.

I don't know what the weather is like, so I can't judge. The Italians here are probably better informed.
Last years shortening was a disgrace, but probably a result of behind the scenes power issues. I'm all for safety, so if the stage is indeed overly dangerous (ice on the descents, heavy storms or extreme gusts of wind expected, such things) cancel it. But don't cancel it because it's cold. There must be ways to be clothed for that sufficiently to get through the stage.

So annoying when the weather intervenes like this. But what can we do but complain? It is what it is. I remain positive it will be a great stage racing wise but we will be robbed of epic pictures.
Unless it's freezing conditions (or other clearly dangerous conditions), it's not the weather that intervened.

You just refuse to accept that they'd have local knowledge that we'd have no access to, don't you?

The way i read the various bits of news is that climbs were removed out of fear that the weather can get worse, not that it's currently too bad to ride them

If you decide beforehand that's gonna be a sucky stage, then it's likely you'll find it a sucky stage.
I wanted a sucky stage with Fedaia and Pordoi, at least worthy of the queen stage label, worthy of a Giro Dolomiti stage.

Instead we get... this.
