You just refuse to accept that they'd have local knowledge that we'd have no access to, don't you?
Riders? Absolutely not. I'll ask again, please answer this: What kind of exclusive information is it that the riders in the buses at the stage start will have access to? A private weather forecast?

I wanted a sucky stage with Fedaia and Pordoi, at least worthy of the queen stage label, worthy of a Giro Dolomiti stage.

Instead we get... this.

Which could very well turn out to be a great stage.

Anyway, I thought Zoncolan was the Queen Stage.

The lack of plan B - 2012 route from Agordo is also a bit puzzling

Edit: although i guess CPA would have nuked that as well

All we want is Panem et circenses. Not asking too much :D

624

declined in modern language: "cycling carnage". I think we can say it without offending riders' sensitivity

#Giro - Salvato (CPA delegate) said riders wanted to do the stage, but conditions aren't good. They hoped for a better weather and they wanted to do all the stage, but considering that weather can change in mountain they wanted to avoid a situation like Sanremo 2013.

...

So there won't be dangerous conditions, but the mere (fringe) possibility of it is enough to cancel Cima Coppi.

They. Are. In. ITALY! They are likely to have scouts all over the route. But you seem to have just decided - while sitting nice and warm 1000s of Ks away - that you obviously have better knowledge about whether or not the descents are dangerous. Again; I'm going to take the word of the people actually involved in the race.

So... at the end of the day it wasn't the riders who didn't want to race the full stage... guess that bit about the riders being whiny wasn't true after all.

Stupid decision. Just finish the Giro now if they don't want to ride it.

Look above, it wasn't the riders who didn't want to ride the full stage.

Nooo it's the riders who are scared and it's all their fault! The experts on CN Forums already said so!

Yeah from the info I'm gathering from people on the climbs the weather is bad but still ok for pro cycling.
They could have started and neutralize the descents in case things got worse, I guess.

And there are people actually on the climbs right now on social media saying the conditions are fine.

basically "instability in May in high mountain-stages" could be a reason to cancel stages until the end of times.
*all it takes is possibility

As mentioned above, there is no reason to believe that the Giau descent is any less dangerous than the cancelled ones

Point 2: it's the riders union guy that communicated the reasons why the stage was shortened, so it is the riders whether you like it or not
