Apparently the Torino stage has been altered and shortened.

I think it's this climb from Pecetto Torinese (so minus the first 3,5 km), but I could be wrong

Yes, according to the map it's that side of the climb.
A great stage, but I don't trust the archtraitor Vegni (now that we are getting rid of him his son is taking over the u23 Giro...)
With the Aosta mountain stage of on the next day this one is probably a good way to get some action.

They have updated most of the stages but considering it's only march could be only an intermediate update. Anyway in stage 8 they cut the flat after the last hill, in stage 9 they added Macerone just after the start and then Rionero Sannitico, at least a stage with climbs at the beginning, and in stage 15 they added a passage in Aosta before climbing Verrogne and the climb is likely at least partially different. Other changes are irrelevant and stage 12 is still missing.

Really too bad that they don't seize the opportunity to use all the hills surrounding Genova to create a real cracker of a 230+ km medium mountain stage. Wouldn't be a problem with the sequence of the stages either since the preceeding and following stage both are flat.
The original wasnt even good but this is garbage. Genova can evem have good 1 or 2 climb stages.

Now we get a bunch sprint

When it comes to Giro design, I'm disappointed by the focus on shorter mountain stages with steeper finish climbs the last couple of years, but my main issue is the constant underutilization of the hilly terrain in the Apennines. Regions like Abruzzo, Emilio Romagna, Toscana and Liguria is packed with these type of climbs. Should be used much more frequently for tougher and longer mountain stages than it has been in recent Giro history.

So many good climbs and regions in Italy going underused.

Apparently the Monte Fasce descent in its current state is quite dangerous... But that's way too much change for this stage's profile in my eyes.

It's a a shame really to have a stage like this in that area now. The area around Reggio Emilia and Parma is perfect for some proper mid-mountain stages, especially the area between Parma/Reggio and La Spezia, not that far away from where last year's stage 4 led through. Loads of potential...

And the terrain south/southwest of the cities/towns from Bologna to Cesena in Emilia Romagna is very well suited for an awesome hilly stage.
