Zoccarato and Stork abandoned. Dekker must be miles behind again as well

edit: DNF Dekker just confirmed

Bit weird that DSM let Barguil in the end. If they just stopped him they could've given them 10 minutes easily.

How are these guys getting covid? The external cases are pretty low compared to the peak times. But the relative number cases w.r.t cycling are very high. Other than double Covid winner Gaviria and triple Covid winner Sagan, i thought the rest were risk averse.

1. Covid in population is mostly undetected due to milder symptoms.
2. Cyclists need power so even a few percent drop due to an infection is a problem: the situation is analysed and tests are conducted.
3. During a difficult race immune system weakens so even physically super strong guys can be more prone to infections than your average Joe.

I think DSM lost the jersey when Leknessund couldn't get into the break. Tere's a good chance Remco and Roglic will test each other. Don't know if Leknessund can make it over the Cappuchini

they may do, but Quickstep would probably prefer Barguil to take the lead instead of having to do the ITT in pink

edit: but he'd take white anyway if Leknessund loses time. Didn't think about that.

Would actually be pretty funny if this breakaway doesn't make it after all that happened didn't happen yesterday.

With Voigt you immediately get why he was always either going for the breakaway or working at the front of the peloton once you hear his tactical insights.

Migels used to be a competent & accurate commentator for 2 decades. Definitely better than Kirby & Hatch, dunno about Duffield.
My view, Duffield was awful.

Bora did a recon of this stage, and is lined up close to the front. So I wouldn't completely exclude them trying something later on.

Normally the breakaway should still make it, though, unless DSM gets really scared.

Kamna should take a shot today really. This stage suits the second options going for it if the favourites do nothing

What a fantastic first act of the stage. I hope one from the four OGs wins, but Healy better save as much energy as he can now until the finale.

Sometimes i wonder how great it has to be to be able to ride through all these beautiful landscapes. What it would be like to look through the riders' eyes.

Here's what Healy sees:
