Mikel Landa suffered a stable fracture of the T11 vertebra, a non-displaced break in his mid-back, caused by a crash at the 2025 Giro d'Italia. He doesn't require surgery, just rest and possibly a brace. Bone healing takes 6 to 8 weeks. As a professional cyclist, his return to competition, including rehabilitation to regain strength and endurance, could take 2 to 3 months. This includes initial rest, physical therapy, and gradual training. His injury history, such as a vertebral fracture in 2018, supports this timeframe.

Landa's crash looked really, really bad. That light post was in the perfect spot to cause havoc. I really thought he'd top 5, maybe even podium. Hope for a full and speedy recovery.

Arensman and Gee? I was just reading Thymen's Reddit AMA and thought, surely, he's in good shape...apparently not.
Gee looked kind of fragile all spring, like he was overtrained or something.
The two of them can probably ride back into the Top 10 but they've already made the job a lot harder.

Pedersen is a monster; how can he climb so well? He looks like 2020-21 Wout.

The Tour of the Alps is quite misleading.

There have been several winners, or riders who performed well in that race who later performed poorly in the Giro or were DNFs.

Last year, Juanpe won the Tour of the Alps and had a very bad Giro.

In 2023 TAO won, Giro DNF.
In 2022 Bardet won, Giro DNF
Also Landa in 2016.

It is a race that has been described as a jinx for the Giro due to poor performances and accidents.

That’s too bad if it keeps some riders away, as it was a wonderful race to watch this year.

Gee got caught behind Frigo who crashed in front of him apparently which led to the timeloss. Yet to see anything from Arensman.
Oh that makes sense actually - I thought at the time that the group looked significantly smaller descending than it did right at the top of the hill and then suddenly they said Gee was 25 seconds back. Sucks for him to lose a minute but maybe he can use it to his advantage to fly under the radar and get in a break or something later on.
