At the end of the race, will the final top 4 riders be changed in anyway by today's events?

People are posting like something revolutionary has taken place.

My guess it is only going to effect the also rans.

the question is does cervelo work for sastre again now that he is back in the game, or do they work for tondo who is a few minutes better and judging by the first week in much better form?

Depends on whether Sastre can shake off the injuries before the Zoncolan. If he can, him, if he can't, Tondo

true, may even lose

Not really that surprising when you think about it. Clearly the favourites are the stronger climbers, but what mattered on the climb was the climbing strenght of the domestiques since they were the ones doing the pulling. The favourites are beginning to take pulls now though.

i think its also significant that all of the GC riders in the MR group such as vino, garzelli, evans are all having to work right now, whereas in the lead group sastre, tondo, arroyo all have guys left to ride as hard as possible for them, saving them energy in addition to the time gain

Sastre was out of it yesterday, he's back in contention now

Then you still have a few more in the group that could surprise and ride top 5

You really don't rate Arroyo, do you?

Take out the long TT (since there isn't any this year) and he finished 5th last year.

Well, Sastre started the Giro as a big favourite. This looks set to reverse all of his previous time loss.

If he has no trouble on the climbs, then it could be crucial

Possibly.

Before this stage, I'd say the top 4 would be Evans, Basso, Nibali and Vino in some combination.

Now I think Sastrea and/or Tondo are in the mix for the top 4 as well.

At least tonight the GC will be completely different. Arroyo is a major GC threat, plus it brings Sastre back into play although probably not into the sort of lead he needs. The best thing is that the top GC guys will really have to go on the attack in the final days. I actually think Liquigas are well placed, they will have riders high in the GC plus the favourites ready to follow.

It's insane man, Imagine Vino's rage.
Would he try a Flandis-like attack in the coming days to make up for this Pereiro moment?

He's just let them walk all over him. Don't think he'll take it lying down though.

He's down on the mat, but he's not out yet!
He needs to dust himself off and carry on.
