i don't know but to lose a race like that by missing a break is just not right.:(

It's a chain of bad decisions. Going to a bad team, not demanding an A-squad for every race you enter, not staying in the front, not paying other teams to help you chase.

Sucks for your hero, but no cycling enthusiast should be unhappy with what happened so far.
Evans was in 2nd, my hero actually lost a jersey today :)

Unless we get a different explanation of what really happened luck had nothing to do with it today.
One explanation that i hear already is that radio did not work because of the rain (second time this happens with Astana) and thus they lost control of the race.

Where's that big table of the GC placings of the guys in the breakaway at the start of the day? An awful lot of leap-frogging has taken place.

Here. It was Search that made/posted it.

The radios did not stop working at the ToC when it rained.

If Cervelo don't win this Giro now, it's a massive balls up.

If both are feeling good, they will have the power to sacrifice one of them. Send one up the mountain, peloton follows, the other attacks.

Unless they bonk badly or miss a move, one of them has this.

What the hell happened today!? This Giro gets more interesting everyday, i'm loving it and they still haven't even started the 'real' mountain stages.

Sastre and Tondo would have to bonk badly for evans to be back in contention hfer07
Remember last year the Blockhaus stage? Sastre failed and that was in his terrain-as I said- nothing is set on stone yet-specially in the mountains of the Giro-they are nasty and cruel.

Sastre much better on stages with multiple climbs, rather than the Blockhaus one.

Not really.

You can't just look at the stages and go "Mountain. Sastre's stage." It's not that simplistic. Riders have many more characterstics than just "can climb/can't climb".

Sastre, like Evans, does better the longer and harder the stage is. That stage was 68kms with one climb only. It was always going to be about damage limitation for Sastre.

I wouldn't get too excited, your kidding yourself if you think sastre is going to give up a 4min buffer to the big favorites and he will be lucky himself to catch the guys ahead.

Can't believe Eurosport is going to cut away to watch what Lance has been up to (which is ****** all) instead of staying to see Porte pull on the pink jersey....

Well... I don't think the seeing him pulling it on part is as important as the seeing him riding with it on at the front of the peloton with the Saxo guys tomorrow
But... that's just my opinion...

Radio failure is a convenient excuse for screwing up.

"Crikey! I did not notice that half the peloton had gone up the road. MY DS forgot to radio it to me."

Evans & Vino screwed the pooch. It happens. Still a lot of tough racing to go so I wouldn't 100% count either of them out, but it doesn't look good. (For them that is, for those who made the break and are real GC contenders it looks great.:D) One things for sure, you can't call this Giro predictable. :)
