devastated....evans has to be one of the most unlucky cyclists in history. maybe he is just not supposed to win a GT.:(

Unless we get a different explanation of what really happened luck had nothing to do with it today.

Never would have happened if Radioshack were controlling the race like they did in the ToC.

Agree.

Just goes to show that this is a weak field compared to California.

Can't believe Eurosport is going to cut away to watch what Lance has been up to (which is ****** all) instead of staying to see Porte pull on the pink jersey....

What does this have to do with luck? Did he crash or puncture just as the split happened? As far as I know, he just screwed up, luck not playing into it.

Yeah, but he should been in the first group. Always stay near the front and you won't get caught out like that. But don;t worry mate, as someone else said, we can now look foward to the fightback. It will be bigger than Ben Hur.

that wasn't luck. that was poor tactics on behalf of BMC & Astana. they should have never let that many riders get away, especially with so many good riders

nothing is set on stone yet-and a mistake like this is unlikely to repeat in the coming stages-so Evans still in contention

Where's that big table of the GC placings of the guys in the breakaway at the start of the day? An awful lot of leap-frogging has taken place.

Looks like its time to start cheering on Porte.

90% of those guys will crack and end up behind evans, vino, basso, nibali on GC but the one that doesn't will win and Sastre looks to be finding form.

Race over if you ask me, Sastre has won.

Umm... first post here but didn't Radioshack do exactly this (or USPS or whatever they were called then) when they let that Kivilev (RIP) group go and win a flat stage by about half an hour approx 6 years back in the TDF?

I said it before. Evans is not smart enough to win a GT.

He's like the aussie Tommy D. Every time you start thinking about throwing your support behind him, he screws the pooch.

Porte Pretty in Pink

Richie Porte in Pink. Apparently from Hadspen not Launceston, though one could almost call Hadspen an outer suburb. Good on you lad.
