If they give Sella and Hoogerland 15 minutes, one of them might make it. Although the group should probably have been bigger.

It depends on where they have the 15 minutes. 15 minutes at the start of the Gau won't be enough for the two of them.

On Index adam will never say what you want to hear.

Actually I think Hoogerland can win it, if he has got the legs. The problem is that 229 km is very long, and for them there is no rest, just go up and down.

Why are there so many Crostis portests? Seems pretty stupid that you need to protest about a change of route in a fricken bike race. Get a life.

CN feed "By the way, we hear that there will be group of protesters at the top of the day's first climb to protest yesterday's exclusion of the Crostis. Let's hope it is a peaceful protest.

You wouldn't be mad if you worked on something that ended up being for nought?

Well those workers would of been paid but the blame should go towards the organisers for considering the climb and the descent. It was crazy thinking about going down that.

Also, they protested yesterday, why protest today?

The group of 11 has caught the group of 6. Go tschopp.

Someone from the break wins this tonight.

Sella has to be the favourite as he's been climbing better than the others.

So

Let's go Sella!

Nah Nieve and Garzelli are far better thats for sure its not 2008 any more

A lot of them were volunteers.

It wasn't crazy thinking about going down that. They descended the Mortirolo in the rain last year, and most of the worst stuff on the Crostis descent is in fact the flat Strade Panoramica delle Vette. It was crazy thinking about going down that in the case of bad weather, in view of what else has happened in the race and so on that begged reconsideration.

I expect we'll see Crostis either as an MTF or as an MITT in 2012 or 13.

Mountain points on Piancavallo:

1 Emanuele Sella (AND) 15
2 Johnny Hoogerland (VCD) 9
3 Yaroslav Popovych (RSH) 5
4 Kevin Seeldraeyers (QST) 3
5 Javier Aramendia (EUS) 1

If Sella wins over the Cima Coppi he takes over virtual green even if he takes no points on the Forcella Cibiana.

There are 74 points maximum available in the GPM today.

Agreed. Based on pure climbing, Nieve is by far the best in that group at the moment - way above Sella:

Stage 9:

20. Sella, +2'09
28. Nieve, +2'21

Stage 13:

16. Nieve, +2'28 (even after doing that huge pull)
21. Sella, +3'13

Stage 14:

7. Nieve, +1'51
26. Sella, +5'18

However, the stage is so tough (and long) that he might not end up being the strongest from that group. As much as I dislike Sastre and thinks he's overrated, he shouldn't be underestimated today to be honest. Same goes for Garzelli.
