Could've been a good stage with stronger teams, tbh, but it works less well when the strongest team is the Maglia Rosa. Even if Roglic were still in the race, Pellizzari could've been pushing a pace to drop people.

Could've been a good stage with stronger teams, tbh, but it works less well when the strongest team is the Maglia Rosa. Even if Roglic were still in the race, Pellizzari could've been pushing a pace to drop people.

Would stronger teams not just have let to the race getting locked down even more?

It's not false pacing - it's perfect pacing for their GC leader - if no one else responds not their issue.

The Giro's level is what it is. Carapaz hasn't been on the podium since 2022, and he can win this Giro.
Simon Yates hasn't had aspirations of winning a GT for a long time.

The level is low, and tomorrow they have their chance to win another GT.
So they´ve decided not to risk it

Roglic has missed a great opportunity to win an easy GT.

Yates has not once given any indication that he is able to attack. He seems to be able to produce good stable power to compete with the rest, but no punch at all from what I've seen this giro.

I think it was too close among top 3 for anyone to really try today and the rest of top 10 not strong enough. Still felt this was a good design that could have provided action if GC was different
