Sorry racing today. I have no idea why the peloton let that slip away. They ought to be embarassed. So far the Giro isn't doing it for me. If they aren't going to go for it until next week, I'm not sure if I can stay interested.

The fifth stage wasn't exciting for you? We're still in the first part of the race, and the race for GC doesn't start until Sunday. What did you expect through the first seven stages?

Time for some D_T-esque boasting on my part. After Rujano lost time on the Strade Bianchi I said:

Unreliable does not mean always terrible, in fact quite the opposite. Duarte and Serpa were great today, and we know that they are both excellent riders. Still, I fully expect them to at some point lose bags of time on stages that don't trouble the other GC contenders.

So that's Duarte down, Serpa left standing. How long until the South American curse strikes him? Tomorrow shouldn't trouble him, but then again, who knows?

So disappointed in Machado. Di Luca also sucked, and Ulissi isn't taking cycling by storm anytime soon.

126 people in, no Duarte. That probably goes beyond "sucked" and right into "had some sort of problem".

Yeah it is starting to look like he might have had a fall at some point. That or hunger knock.

Well yes like I said ACF, Kreuziger has not been very good the last 2 years (although still top 10 TDF), and I lost all belief he would surface again.
But moving from Liquigas was good. He seems to be his old self at Astana again.
But we'll know more after the crucial stages

I knew Duarte was an issue but Serpa proved in the past to be somewhat consistent. So I would not count him down so easily. Besides he is from where I am from.

I'm so happy for Kreuziger. What a great result for him!!
Damn, i didn't know he had such a mountain sprint in him.

Shame on me...

Team overall also looks fine so far.

Colombian Disease, maybe? I hear it makes you maddeningly inconsistent

We got spoiled last year with that first week. They were never gonna trump that, or get even close. With two tragic days knocked out of this week on top, it's not surprising that some expectations are not met.

For me the 2010 Giro became less interesting over time, certainly week 3 felt a tad underwhelming. I hope this one follows the more normal GT pattern.

Yeah, let's wait a couple of days. He finished 4th on Morzine last year, but got worse after that.
