Astana seems to be going full ***. Quite shameless.

I came here just to see how much talk there was about Astana so far, but reading the clinic is always kind of hilarious.
To be fair Tinkoff look a lot more human then Astana. Tinkoff riders drop like flies.... Astana though.......

You may be right, but I can't help but wonder why Tinkoff is leading the chase on what seems to be every stage. Why are they chasing down breaks in the closing kilometres on sprint stages? It makes no sense to me. Every stage I tune in thinking Tinkoff are going to be blown to bits by the third week, what with all the needless chasing. But then I realize they are all probably doped to the gills.
Sky seems to be the only team playing the game correctly.

The answer is Tinkov in the team car. Must be frustrating being a DS and having to cope with him in a race, I would just throw him out of the moving vehicle.

Funny thing is they clearly haven't figured out, who will drop on purpose. Aru attacking with Landa on his wheel, Cataldo chasing after them. Three in the top eight would be a bit much.

And to learn to read the power meter. Landa is obviously ignoring this.

I think they are just sitting back and conserving energy, why get involved in all that silliness...

He won't be there the whole race, will he..? Thought he was going home, interesting to see how the team reacts when he does... Maybe he should go and brow beat Sagan before TOC finishes

Question is which is race horse they should bet on. Aru looks like a donkey alongside Landa (and i suppose we havent seen the best from Tiralongo yet).

But Aru is Martinelli's baby.
Anyone else would back Landa, tell him to attack and keep Aru on Contador's wheel.

Aru is a proven GT rider unlike Landa, It makes sense that their first priority is Aru.

Now Vaughters just has to suck up that cycling is clean. And accept that Slagter is a loser.

of course it's clean. Speeds are down and Astana is a very scientific team.

It's pretty intriguing how a team who was damn close to getting pulled is so damn brazenly riding mutant. You'd really assume that after all the speculation and ethical-legal crap, they'd tone it right down and just make sure Aru is where he needs to be in the big moments. But nope, they've got greats off the front every spare moment, triumphantly winning stages and splitting pelotons - it's really a big middle finger to the UCI et al. In its own perverse and dirty way, it's almost glorious, the total lack of pretense. They clearly do not give a s*it about perceptions.

oh, dude

Let's not go too far. Dodgy as Landa is, he showed 100 x the promise earlier in his career and hasn't reached anywhere near the level froome has, yet.

Yup, I thought the same. Might the key be this: a passed UCI review not only grants a licence, but also helps to establish margins of safety very accurately. Apparently Astana concluded there was some underutilised capacity left to be improved upon. This of course is assuming that anything medically or sportingly relevant was touched upon in the review, not simply intra UCI politics, which I actually find more likely.

Or perhaps Astana simply said fugit lets do it.

Landa has never and will never use any kind of doping in his life, that is for sure. I dont know the rest of the team.
And if he see anything wrong in the team he will left is possible, not always is so easy.

But if you see any rider one by one, this performances, clean or not, are not new.

Luis Leon, he won Nice to Contador, now is weaker.

Cataldo, promising rider that was lider several times of his Giro team, he has been top ten, as well ITT italian champion,he won in Cuitu Negru, la Vuelta, etc...Doping or not, he is at his usual level.

Kangert, he was very strong in a T d Suisse when young, he was very impresive I think two years ago in the Giro.

Tiralongo...it is not the first time he perform well in the Giro.

Aru , promisin rider, podium last year.

About Landa I talked in his treath of the forum.

I'm sure Mikel is a nice guy. Just because notorious dopers like Armstrong or Wiggins aren't nice doesn't mean nice guys don't dope.
