Zakarin will be fully unleashed, Menchov 09 Giro style.

That Menchov vs Di Luca battle in the 09 Giro reminds me of the Armstrong vs Pantani, Ullrich, Beloki, Mayo or anyone that felt they could beat the fully charged Texan. Menchov defended anything and everything that Di Luca threw at him. He then had 'energy' to counter attack and sprint away from Di Luca in a couple of those mountain stages. That was probably Menchov at the top of 'game.' He was early 30's, peaked perfectly physically and with his doses of whatever the doctors packed up for him and that was that. Di Luca must still be shell shocked from that Giro.

Yes, Di Luca looked so blatantly doped that I was rooting for the silent doper Menchov, plus him falling off the bike even uphill throughout his career made him a more likable character. Lance also did that Giro, must have been fun for him watching these guys.

Haha same here. I guess he must be pretty rich himself as I can't really imagine the Vino LBL thing was a one-off.

That loser Menchov only won anything notable because Rabobank got a carte blanche in reward for firing Rasmussen as the certain Tour winner from my pov!

Kitten is flying, he is making the peloton look like juniors, but then he is a doper, taking blood out, exposing it to ultraviolet light and re-infusing it is doping.

The Kitten is certainly flying, but when the mountains come along he will be driving the autobus..... :D

Doubtful.

There's really no stages for him after stage 12, that's where I think he'll pull the pin and start getting ready for The Tour.

I'm thinking more Ricco/Sella Giro 2008 style, at least I hope so. It's been too long since someone dropped the camera moto going uphill!

Yeah, I see Kittel doing a McEwen style race program of 2 weeks of Giro, Suisse or Dauphine, Tour.

He said he wants to finish it though!

Doesn't matter what he says he wants to do, it's what the team wants, and more importantly the sponsors.

I'm assuming the sponsors and the team want a fresh, fit, rested and strong sprinter for the tour. That's usually a program of 2 weeks in the giro, small break and move onto training for the tour.

It's completely unnecessary for him to push through the giro just to say he did the full race.

The new Giro points system offers him and Etixx the chance to win the red jersey ain't it? Zero chance at the Tour. Maybe that's why he in fact really's gonna finish the Giro eventually.

There was this guy called Lance Armstrong. He did the same. Never tested positive as well. Clean champ. No one can be that smart.

Ha!
It would be nice to see someone start a team called Asthma, with sponsors from, say, Amgen.
It would be very inspirational.

So he puts in a major effort to drop the breakaway group on the final climb, then holds the peloton at bay for over 8km, including the very flat last 3km where he kept them at 0:10 back, only to cross the finish line, hop off his bike easy as can be and proceed to strut around seemingly not even out of breath. Nothing fishy here.

TUE time coming?

from giro discussion:
ONLY good thing on the ESPN Brazilian transmition is the fact that they have a "reporter" at the finish. But she is Landa's girlfriend( @EstelaFarah ). So she has good information. She said tuesday Landa had an alergic reaction with polen and indeed wasn't in good shape. If it wasn't for Roche... She said Sky's doc said he should(!?) be ok for tomorrow
