Hot racing coming up in Australia

Got the Crit. nationals coming up tomorrow. Ewan is borderline unbeatable in those type of races, but here's hoping someone like Blake Quick can make life difficult. Somewhat disappointing to see Graeme Frislie go for another turn with the U23's. He looked strong in the Bay Crits.

Going by reputation alone, Oscar Chamberlain should be the overwhelming favorite amongst the juniors, but am expecting Wil Holmes to turn up this year, should be Australia's best first year junior this upcoming season.
Crit race result: #1. Wil Holmes. :innocent:

Chamberlain was a DNS.

With three Jayco's in the break - including Blake Quick - this race might be over for the peloton already. Quick vs. Taj Jones? Ewan apparently a DNF with the flu(?).

Ewan cant catch a break, terrible luck he has had in the last couple of seasons.

I think the latter. This tweet is from this morning. Right now, it's the middle of the night in Australia, that would be a weird time to decide not to go. Unless of course he is in jail after a hotel altercation.

Hopefully he will be at the start, but you make a valid point in the last sentence. We will have to wait until morning to be completely sure.

Alastair Mackellar won the U23 road race yesterday with a very dominating performance. He looks ready to have a great season and maybe show he's ready to turn pro with Israel in '24. Special mention to Alex Bogna who got bronze. He is one of the Zwift champions in the development team in Alpecin and therefore following in the footsteps of one Jay Vine.

Bling did not arrive in Australia until Wednesday - Strange preparation considering that he was in Sydney in Mid December.

Don't know what to make of McKellar's performance and the overall quality of the field - McKellar broke away from the peleton in the last 25kms and bridged nearly two minutes to the break of seven - I sort of know McKellar's level and similar with Bodnar - Gilmore spent some time in Europe this riding one day races, however, has limited road exposure so there could be room for improvement. This particular race is usually a great guide to potential WT riders, although I expect this year to be an exception.

Then what a lazy attempt - well, the order of course doesn't matter at all, but if you go out of your way to line up alphabetically, then I'd say the template should be easily altered.

Looks like Brodie Chapman will take the women's title. I', not sure it was an actual attack to begin with, but her pace broke the group, and Spratt has done well to disrupt the chase.

No longer BEX will be disappointed that they only have Roseman-Gannon left.

Too much respect given to Spratt and a nice ride from Chapman gets a good solo win. Brown 2nd easily in a small bunch sprint, Gannon 3rd

Happy to see a quality rider in Chapman get the win - Think its a strong edition of the race - The only pity is Chapman moving to Trek - It's about the worst team in the peleton suiting her characteristics.

It's a slightly stronger field than normal this year but if Matthews doesn't win something strange would need to happen

I'd expect them to try use their numbers to make a late solo move (last 3 laps), someone like Harper/Hamilton or even Durbridge beforehand. That'll force Vine, Plapp, O'Connor etc to chase and I don't think they'll have the firepower to claw them back if they've had to work earlier. If they can however/Matthews sticks with them then he should win.

Surprised DSM don't have Edmondson or Welsford here, they could have really helped C.Hamilton and Dinham.

My race tip is Durbridge and my two dark horses are Drew Morey and Cyrus Monk.
