A WT race with less than a 100 riders should probably not be WT...

(talking about the mens edition)

Pretty impressive from Ewan to be in that group, but this one seems impossible for him to win. Attacks are going to be flying on the last hill and it's uncontrollable.

Mayrhoffer seems to be climbing really good for a sprinter tho, and he comes at the right time for DSM. They need to get points again and it was looking dire but now it looks promising again. A climby sprinter is also incredibly important in this new UCI points system.

I think a harder parcours wouldn't change who's on form, it would just make gaps to those who are in clear winter/training form much bigger. And maybe if you're not that fit the race can actually become too hard, but then you can just go into the Froometto
Yeah, but if the parcours is so hard it needs real form it could scare off higher profile riders.

Another good result for Clarke . Clear win by Mayrhoffer. Ewan ran out of legs and another fourth for Matthews.

Strange tactics by Jayco - Should have had Yates and Hamilton attack the lsat two climbs instead of pacing at the front - Reckon O'Brien should have contested the sprint instead of Matthews - Think O'Brien will win a race or two in 2023.

It seems to have been forgotten, but Mayrhofer was once incredibly talented. It just never made headlines because he shared the junior ranks with some guy named Remco Evenepoel. Always was a younger Degenkolbesque rider. Very hard to get rid of, very hard to beat in a sprint.

Yeah, but his U23 weren’t good and his first year as a pro was DNF marked due to a lot of health issues as well. So I guess it made sense that he wasn’t really on the radar anymore.

After his Tour Down Under, where he was clearly in a very good form already I had hopes that he would make a breakthrough though. But this is way faster than I anticipated…

If you’ve ever eaten at Fasterpasta then you’d know it’s named that because of how fast it goes through you and not how quick they serve the meals.

You're saying he's unlikely to eat a sponsor-provided meal before the race?
Or maybe he will, coz then he'll need to finish quickly to... do his business.
