How would the Michael Rasmussen story fit in with these scenarios? If we are to believe the dutch newspaper NRC, Riis sent Rabobank a letter of warning, when they hired him. This strongly suggests he was gled to get rid of Rasmussen, so in general of riders who can cause problems in the future, but in which scenario? The somewhat unlikely last one? The first one, but where a rider seeks extra 'help' outside of the team programma and is thus far more likely to be tested positive at some point? Anything inbetween?

True -Riis supposedly did that, being a great colleague and all..
I do think his motives where other than beeing that though.
As far as I recall their relationship at the time was pretty cooled.

And yes... Only beeing mentioned in scenario four is not sufficient.
As I stated in the last sentence a mix is also possible..
Placing the Rasmussen dismissal somewhere between one and two would be my updated guess..

Rasmussen admitted to have tested artificial dog blood (not successful).Taking basically everything he thought would enhance perfomance.
One of those who threw everything in, wanting more than the normal programme ( which was still high standard doping).

A hardcore doper - Riis worried to have him get tested positive thus the warning to Rabobank.

Yes...

Propably figured him to be a loose cannon that knew too much..

So warn off his employer to be -So that they might control him...
A positive on Rasmussen could mean that he would spill the beans..

As he supposedly already did....

But still the relationship didn't improve from this act, however we don't know who ADD will deem most trustworthy.. I think they will concentrate on what they can proove (this time around) thus letting Riis of the hook..

None of that 'transparency' and 'zero tolerance' BS. "Cleanest peloton ever" is SO much easier.

Exactly. Pretty obvious what happened, actually.

Cycling always has these chances to change. And then someone steps in to fill the vacuum....and the rest get sucked back in.

It is good to hear that there is still room in the top level of the sport for a rider of Basso's stature. He can also be a good mentor to the young riders on the team, teaching them the perils that attempted doping can have on your career.

Well somebody needs to replace the soon-to-retire David Millar

Maybe Basso will do a Horner.

More likely a Rogers... But not all do to doping...
IMO he's lost alot of confidence and motivation over the last few years.. (actally since his suspension)
This could be the change he needs... Focusing og week-long races as captain and being an important "donkey" in the GT's...

I think they willl kick back in him, some of what he lost back then....

Motivation?

Sounds like a lot of baloney.

But seeing Basso TT like it's 2006 because of "motivation" will be hilarious.

Sucked back in? Riis? He never left.

Definitely, because the level of doping teams or riders engage in is always constant. Immutable, not subject to changing tests, policies or team lineup. Good call.

More stuff on Tinkov and his disgusting tweet, I hope EdBos doesnt sign for them after Tinkov's latest behavoir, he would be a fool to do so

Don't really like the way the article dismisses the prior tweet
"The whole world hates you stupid russians" is not just "crudely venting an opinion"
It's an uncalled for racist insult, disgusting as well
That Norwegian dude reaped what he sowed imo
(not saying I support Oleg's tweet)

The responses to his messages on twitter are mostly like that, endless insults about how corrupt, stupid, fascist, communist end evil Russians are. The people who take time to write that **** clearly prove that the mother of the imbeciles is really always pregnant.
