Congrats to Poga that's how is done: by a courageous & bolt attack from afar going all the way to the finish line. Also congrats to Masnada for doing what a bike racer is supposed to do, instead of waiting for a lost cause to happen..
truly disappointed by the chasers for playing the "mind games" within 10k to finish -so they got what they deserved by being cowards.

I would have really liked Masnada to win it. Not because Pog didn't deserve it, but because Masnada was awesome and because it would have been funny regarding the losers in the chasing group. What a travesty. Anyway, the best guy won, but Masnada MVP today for me.

And the mix in the group just wasn't the right one to hold him on acceptable distance by the top.
Congrats to Masnada. After the bridging, it was too much to expect a complete turnaround.

That's why I still wonder if Masnada was meant to pull where Almeida pulled. Because if you wanted Almeida to last really long he has to go at his own pace (yoyo just like Remco). I don't know how else Almeida would have "waved" for otherwise?

What a race we had, just caught a replay. At one point it really seemed like there might be a sprint finish but the final 35kms were just pure racing. Great race, great winner, great Tadej!

Rewatching it now; to me it seems like Almeida drops Remco, then Pog goes, then Almeida waves back at his teammates to chase Pog as he cannot do it himself.

I think Pog maybe waited for Remco to get dropped? Who else would have chased Pog?

QS should be really lucky Masnada was as strong as he was because the tactics was so weird! Had they counted on Masnada it would have made more sense, but now really Masnada saved all of their asses while riding for himself.

Di Luca, Cunego, and Valverde were all one-time GT winners (though the latter at least was close again, probably 2012 was his best chance). Both Nibali and Pogi have multiple wins in both departments.
