I just saw the UAE lineup and...

Is it crazy that I think literally any of them could win?

Covi would be a waaaaay outside bet, granted, and Ulissi would have to wind the clock back a lot, but the rest...
I don't think any of them can win the race but it definitely looks like the strongest team on paper.
Formolo is my dark horse here.

Trek are at it again with their really weird lineup announcements.

I‘m interested what level of irrelevant the breakaway will be. IIRC they were always caught pretty early the last few years. I hope we‘ll get to see a real fight to get up the road.

Yeah, just a matter of how long the reeling in will take and who's gonna be the last man standing.
Charming in a way... il piccolo consoling Lombardia.

Anticipation is building nicely. Personally, I am most looking forward to this addition of Il Lombardia more than ever, largely due to Nibs and AV. I hope they are prominent in the race no matter what the final result.

I'll admit I haven't been a great fan of Valverde until he won the 2018 worlds on that monster course which was when he won me over. I've always respected Nibs, his bike handling skills and versatility to win all three grand tours and even MSR says it all. In 2013 to 2014 he was at the peak of his powers.

Why not?

Ok, it's not as tough a course this year, but they have the defending champion, and any reason you would give to not call him a favourite, would just make one of the others more of a favourite... if you get me.

Rarely do I make an effort to stay up this late (1:25am in this region) for a race, but being this is Valverde's and Nibali's last dance I just have to watch. 245km to go.
