sad but it could have been much worse

love zaka but his bike handling skills remember me of juan mauricio soler...very hard to win a grand tour like that, especially the giro

Soler is lucky to be alive after that last crash.

Fully recovered and also grabbing a stage win.Back to his best faster than expected :) If the Russians are allowed to ride at Rio he might have a chance to a medal.

No surprise that Zakharin who would have finished 5th in the Giro until he crashed and Mark a who finished 6th, are dominating the breakaway stages.

Wow, that crash really did traumatise Zakarin. Now he even wears a helmet to go to a hospital.

Does anyone know if he's going to be riding Liege this year?

He was amazing in the race last year and would've loved to see him get there this year with a trouble free preparation. It's probably too much to expect for him to be at that level after Catalunya but hope he can race nonetheless.

Yeah, good performance yesterday. I doubt he can make the podium, that doesn't make him a decent GT rider. It could be that he's reached his ceiling and he's another guy who can top 5, may top 3, but never win a GT.

I don't get why everybody considers him such a bad descender?
OK, he crashed in a decend last year.
But when he lost so much time in a descent in the tour it was due to the loss of a contact lens, has he had any other bad descends since than?

Fingers crossed for a good performance tomorrow! Podium finish is still realistic I think.

It's just the general way of his bike handling, tall lanky rider and he looks like he has been thrown on a bike wrongly. I dunno. It just looks uncomfortable to see him descending.

I agree, he seems to get stronger in the last week!

Also his preparation was aimed at 3rd week, he should do well, let's hope this time he'll make a proper job of it.

Time to show of what he's made today.Perfect stage for him to make a claim for a podium place.
