He and Seixas. Wonder how deep into a season riders this young can excel? The more mature guys will start getting serious, too.
Well maybe you can say that UAE is still a bit of a preparation race, allthough i think that a mature rider like Evenepoel was trying to be serious there.

But Strade Bianche and Tirreno are some of the most important races in the calender in this first block of the season so dont pretend that these youngsters only make an impression because the more experienced riders are not in shape yet.

Not suggesting that about experienced riders and expect those two to do well. The bigger difference is when all the principal studs are at a race for real. If you've been hot early and young the depth of experience can be a big equalizer. Multiple teams treat you as a known quantity and treat you accordingly.

Toro going to the Tour to primarily race for his own ambitions and that is also a way for UAE to assess his ability in the biggest race against the best riders. The idea is to within one or two seasons pass over the torch to Toro so UAE still maintain their grip on the Tour and Pogacar can freely bulk up to 100% focus on classics and monuments. This is how I see it.

They're trying to sign Seixas. If there's a UAE rider who would carry the torch it would be him.

Isaac rode excellent today, did some things showing how in the moment he is, sort of his anti Giro self. Tadej, hits the deck, Del Toro immediately on the radio asking for reinforcements which he got, McNulty and Del Toro burying themselves to chase Pogacar back up.. Del Toro drops Tadej off at @24,2 or 24.1 and Pogacar hits the afterburner and thinned the selection. Del Toro just sat up.. You can combine all the efforts together, UAE as a team but also consummate professionals like MvdP and Pidcock who work first ask questions later. TV commentators saying silliness about Thom trying to hold back and have available calories to pass Pogacar at the line, reality is Pidcock only miscalculated by a by a nanosecond after 300k of hard racing. Isaac did a great job today

Great job today, even though I was hoping they would use him as a 1-2 attack and not just a leadout.

Agreed with the part that Pog wants to free himself from the Tour at some point and focus on other races (i.e. bulking up for cobbles). However, Del Toro may not be enough for Tour domination and maybe that's why they are interested in Seixas (as @Rackham pointed out).

Interesting photo—Ganna is the one who let the wheel go on the Cipressa and no one else besides MVDP came around to keep chasing.
That's the Grand Monaco Conspiracy at work already, where MvdP creates a gap by out accelerating the guy behind him while jumping a place in the queue, so that Pogacar get his favorite bunk buddies over the Cipressa.

I do find some humor in pre race interviews, Del Toro saying in multiple languages that his primary objective was for support of Pogacar, majority of people, took his comments in perspective and thought for sure that Isaac would act towards personal ambitions, which he clearly didn't, instead he and McNulty gave 110% to the cause. Other teams can't follow the plan, UAE can't not execute the pre determined strategy.
UAE going with a successful formula, race from the front, constant pressure and at designated launch point turn heat up for few hundred meters or more, create a selection and gap and see if Pogacar can maintain it, and remaining UAE riders work to counter the chase..the formula has been working for years..
