Serial doper Rebellin on his way back. Didn't want to waste a new thread on this piece of sh!t. Since he is Italian, thought this was a good place for this news.

At least we don't have to waste any time speculating if he is now riding clean, absolutely no chance of that.

I think it's ridiculous that he's coming back at 40, and that he overdid it in the last 4 or 5 years of his career, but at the end of the day he's not any different from other riders of his generation. At least as an amateur he was considered a huge talent, at a time when it's unlikely that EPO was common in the amateur peloton.

LOL no kidding. Remember that back-and-forth on the Peyresourde? Insane attacks.

David Walsh interview

M: How can you tell he’s cheating?

DW: Michael Rasmussen went up the Gourette-Col d'Aubisque faster than Lance Armstrong ever went up it. Alberto Contador was alongside him the whole way. I’ve been at that race since the early 80s and I know what speeds they go up that mountain. The speeds the leaders go up at today are just illogical.

Watching that clip shows just how dirty Dertie is.

So the question is - who was his doc that year?

Yeah it was just the most 'unbelievable' attack after attack...must have had a serious programme.

Though I must say I still found it exciting to watch..

Contador is working with Pepe Martí - not sure when that started though.

As a refresher Landis said it was Pepe Martí who sold him HGH.

That doc surely wasnt much worse than Dr Ferrari, if it wasnt actually him. :)

I suspect it was Ferrari. But I am wondering if RR or anyone else has anything more specific on Disco-Astana during Uniballer retirement 1.0

It is clear that Disco were ahead of the curve on whatever it was they were using (DynEPO?, blood?, CERA? HGH?)

We know that Disco had close contacts with Ferrari for years before. We know that because Armstrong was retired Ferrari must have been free to work with other riders so was he still with Disco then.

Lets also not forget Dertie in the 2008 Giro when he came 'off the beach' and beat Ricco and DDL both of whom were doped up to the eyeballs. There was some pretty 'unbelievable' racing then too.

Doc M - Pepe the driver? I thought he was the needleman rather than the deviser of programmes. My impression was that working with Pepe started when the Uniballer returned (and presumably re-invoked his exclusive contract).

Duffy was the driver!

Pepe is Contadors personal trainer, not sure when it started but according to this article in 2010 ... .
"And his trainer in recent years, Pepe Martí, one of the people that knows him best, is surprised at how well Contador knows himself, how he interprets the signals from his body. “And every year that goes by he knows himself better. He knows how to manage the information that he gets very well, how to self-regulate,” says Martí, who speaks with Contador daily, sometimes three calls a day. “For example, in the time trial at Annecy, in the Tour, he had calculated that in order to beat Cancellara and bearing in mind what he experienced at Beijing and Monaco, he would have to pass the top of the hill (ed. – the 3rd time check at Côte de Bluffy) with 46 seconds advantage over the Swiss. He told me before the start: If I pass through with 46 seconds, I win. He did it with exactly 46 seconds and won by three seconds.”

Let's hope that the Feds don't forget that.

This quote gives it as 2007

http://www.superdeporte.es/polideportivo/2010/08/20/contador-lleva-saxo-bank-valenciano/103467.html

Google translation:

Pepe Martí began working with Contador in 2007 in the Discovery team and has been with him in all his victories in major stage races. But the link Valencia with cycling began more than a decade when Porcelanatto over to U.S. Postal in 1999, where Discovery Channel changed to Astana and to continue working with the then world's best racer, Lance Armstrong.

So this raises the question - who was Ferrari working with 2007-8

I wouldn't make too much of this.

Ferrari is requesting a meeting just like Armstrong going on Oprah to get the word out to the non-cycling public that he's a good guy who's done a lot of good for too many people.

Anyone out there who thinks this has any implications other than an overt and cynical ploy to paint himself as a wrongfully accused man is crazy. Ferrari isn't going out like that, and neither is Lance.

My initial thought when I saw the Ferrari article here on CN was that maybe it had a hint of Ferrari throwing Lance under the bus...

but I guess I was crazy and grasping at straws. :) oh well

Don't discount your optomism just yet.

With all the money (and power) involved in this rat's nest, I'm surprised a body or two hasn't shown up yet. I'll be shocked if there isn't an 'accident' that befalls one of the players in the near future...

I'm calling that an official prediction.

Polish is still plying his trade in the comments section in the previously linked USAToday article.

He must be going through some clinic cold turkey pretty badly.

Don't think his brand of ironic, smiling-thru-the-pain humour quite carries across to those that don't know and love the guy.

Hahaha...loved the way you wrote this...captured the essence perfectly. :):D

All seems quiet on the Ferrari front today...I am betting there is a blip rising in the tire.....

Meaningful and truthful exchanges with the Padua prosecutor would not be initiated by a news conference. My guess is that this is linked to Armstrong's spin campaign--to demonstrate that Lance and everybody associated with him is open and cooperating.

If Ferrari was turning rat, his information would be of maximum value to the cops if the snitching were kept secret (so the cops could exploit the leads). A prospective snitch would not want to publicize, and thereby devalue, any information he is offering to trade.

Is this evidence of Lance's innocence? (Don't answer that question! No. Don't. Really.)

OTOH you might have the scenario like in a gangster flick...just how much is one guy ratting out the other. ..and each thug wondering what the other might have said. Playing them off one another so to speak..:);)

Ferarri is as stupid as the next criminal. They dont know when to stop and mostly they dont till they are caught, which they think they never will and when you have got off before you might think, phew well that was a warning, but stupid is as stupid does and hence Ferarri in the pooh pooh again and this time the stakes are way higher.
