McLovin said:He is not the type of guy who throw words on other people. I am sure. If he'll speak, it will be about him. Don't expect him to name names. Some people like easy life, peacefull life, without complication. Yet, I don't know the story about him and mother of Sarah, his first child. What was that about, if anybody knows? Somethim about a gymnast, at the olimpics? This more like an offtopic.
LE: A book from Kloeden woul turn the world upside down. Contador, Ullrich, Vino, Armstrong, Evans, Schleks, Lepheimer, Cancelara, Savoldeli. All of them were, one moment in time, in same team with him.

MarkvW said:You mean the West Germans were doing state-sponsored doping of children from an early age using drugs that caused lasting and serious after effects?
thehog said:First wife Gaby. The story the people don’t know a lot about is that Jan and his brother Steffen were beaten by their alcoholic father when young. Both Steffen and Jan went to sport schools which was a way of escaping the life of abuse at home. That’s why Jan is so close to his mother. When he won the Tour in 1997 he did a lot to help her out of her former life. He also did a tremendous amount work involved with children in similar positions. Most of it off the record without the press involved. The eating disorder he suffered during his career was less about cycling and more about his childhood. The Armstrong factor didn’t help much either. Knowing he was clearly better but resorting to the right program etc. grinded upon him. He saw many “father figures” so to speak advising him on the drug use. It was mostly a repeat of what he grew up with.
Steffen went on to run the 800 meters and won a national junior title in the East. He ended up becoming Jan’s mechanic and was always looked after by his brother.
Jan is very loyal. He feels betrayed by many. Voight and Aldag are two he’ll never speak to again. Aldag did visit his house to apologies for his remarks but Sarah wouldn’t let him in. Voight he has written off completely. Jens sent a conciliatory text message but didn’t get a reply.
Jan’s loyalty extends to never naming names. He sees no value in it. The way the German federal chased him along with the UCI he has never understood. Both groups facilitated and accepted doping so he never understood why they went after he him so hard.

Cloxxki said:Please hightlight the parts you think are bordering fiction? This topic is close to the hearts of many, and false rumors would be a shame.
thanks,

doolols said:So, it's 1-49% true, but you don't feel like saying where the truth is? People who make statements should be prepared to back them up, or retract the statement. Are you related to Polish by any chance?
Neworld said:Thank you, some details there I've never heard of. Very interesting. The UCIs extraordinary interest in putting the screws to Jan is very irregular.
If Jan ever decides to write a book, do you think it would:
(a) be well received in Germany or just slagged as another German doper.
(b) be written in German and English
(c) be about his personal life, doping and his review and recollection of races he failed and succeeded at?
I know that those are very 'wide open' questions but...just asking
