Ok I have no problem with a TT/Sprinter/Stages/Classics oriented team for the first year per se, but now they will have about 12 or so guys who would like to target Flanders and Roubaix. Why expand your roster for that when you could purchase a couple of solid climbers... I get the feeling are really pigeonholing themselves here.

Maybe Durbo and Hepburn won't be signing for GE yet... If Dean and Meier and Beppu (and/or Bauer and Roberts) sign there wont be much space.

They need more neo pros, 3 to get to 30 riders and they only have Teklehaimanot. I don't think they can sign all of Dean, Meier, Beppu, Bauer and Roberts.

oops, it is actually von Hoff and he turns 24 on the 31st of December so I don't think he can be a neo pro.

Letzte Hoffnung explodiert! Mind you he has been travelling brilliantly this year. A Porte like later bloomer perhaps?

Jane Aubrey (Aussie CN journo) has said that he has had many offers and that there will be some news on what's happening with him in 2012 soon. So his last hope has not exploded. ;)

Neo pro just means that they are a first or second year pro, it actually doesn't matter how old they are

Anyone know where GreenEdge's european base will be. I saw a team car today with bike rack, no bikes, today on the Adricatic coast. 2 kids in the back, maybe an U12 team is happening...:D

According to the IGMarkets index, Sutton is headed to Greenedge.

IG Markets of course sponsor Sky amongst other things.

Okay, I was not really sure but I thought I remembered reading that they had to be under 23, thanks for the correction.

Maybe, my memory really is failing me, thanks.

Its 2. If you have one neo-pro your roster is 29, if you have none you can only have a roster of 28.

and yes, neo pros have to be under 23 (The age of the rider is determined by the difference between the year of his hiring, and the year of his birth. The status as neo pro will always end 2 seasons after he signed (for riders signing in Jan-June it will be Dec. the subsequent year, and for riders signing in Juli-Nov. it will be in Dec. two years later).

If you are over 23 you are reffered to as a "new proffessional" not a neo pro

I'd have said it takes a fair bit of innuendo to deduce that Sutton's leaving from this:

...it (Circuit Franco-Belge) was an interesting one for Australian fans, particularly those tracking developments at GreenEDGE. GreenEDGE bound Robbie McEwen took the overall, along with two of the four stages, while fellow Aussie Chris Sutton helped himself to another stage.

I agree it's odd the way they mention Sutton in connection with GreenEDGE, but isn't it more just sloppiness on their part? Unless you were reading something else?

If Jack Bauer signed for GE, wouldn't he count as a neo-pro has he has only ridden on a continental team (Endura)? The same way Andy Fenn counts a neo-pro for QPQS seeing as tough he is joining them from Sean Kelly's An Post team.

they changed the article... ;)

originally said

"The Tour de la Wallonie Picarde/Circuit Franco-Belge was one of two races carrying points towards the IG Markets Pro Cycling Index this week, and it was an interesting one for Australian fans, particularly those tracking developments at GreenEDGE. RadioShack’s Robbie McEwen took the overall, along with two of the four stages, while Chris Sutton helped himself to another stage – both riders are headed towards the Aussie start-up outfit next season."

The final line was then deleted. To be fair to IG they likely changed it so that people like me didnt read the wrong thing into it.. ;

With Dean signing it leaves only one spot remaining (assuming Posthuma, Beppu, Hepburn and Durbridge)
Luke Roberts is the only one left from the SMH article a few months ago.

25 riders announced. (Beppu has been confirmed)

plus three of the four you mention.

Do they have a second neo pro apart from Teklehaymanot or will it be a 29 man roster
