Sick of voigt. The guy needs to go.
Represents everything poisonous about the sport masked by a cloud of horse ****. The new era can start when he retires.

Jens was probably the driving force behind the French report being delayed until after the TdF. Bye bye Jensy.

I would bet 99.9% of all Clinic posters would try to protect themselves, just like Jens.

Why would anyone in the ProTour come forward? So they could be forced out of the sport like Jaksche, or Rassmussen.

In the real world, people try to protect their wealth, their job, their persona.

We have the facts from 1998 soon enough. Those facts may not completely settle this debate, but they will certainly be interesting to see.

Does anyone know which riders from 1998 have had their samples re-tested?

Would the UCI open a case? Lots of ridiculous, but within the rules, ways of not opening any cases against the samples.

Even though there will be numerous positives, it's possible the UCI can use the rules to protect (again) whomever is on the UCI's secret popularity list.

Maybe ASO does something with results from their events, but that could be all.

I expect no suspensions - there shouldn't be, because SOL and all.

But I sure would enjoy certain riders being publicly unmasked.

I agree- Specially with Jens-who is well regarded among fans & the Cycling World. I still like him though, but then, when the facts unveil the lies beneath that mascara-is when we get to see the "real person".....

I was thinking - Ullrich was literally crucified by the German media while Jens just "cruised through the scandals " under the radar..... Lucky MoFo indeed... If he has a bit of class when his name is exposed- he better of admit it without excuses or BS- be the tough man he has always claimed to be & do a big favor to cycling & GTFO....

Jens is another one of those guys that just didn't deny doping but went way over the top in his denials..he should look pretty bad, why don't they all just take the Menchov way?

Based on his "It's my job" mantra, I don't think he will give anything other than "everyone else was doing it". His class is genuine, but that class was defined by the old regime.

Literally? Wow. The German media don't mess around, do they.

I guess if they think it's the best way to discourage doping...

I fully expect Jens to retire at the end of this TdF.

It is a pity he will not have had to face the world's media on the 18th, but that is the influence ASO has weilded.

Same for O'Grady.

I think hfer07 and Paul Sherwin went to the same school. Paul is constantly describing riders literally exploding on the climb!

that Voigt Q&A on cyclingnews is ridiculous.

Voigt is probably the rider I want to see test positive the most. The amount of horse manure in this interview is off the charts. I had to give up half way through.

That said, cyclingnews also look like idiots for going after an easy target like this. If they had some balls they would go after some clean era dopers instead.

I disagree. Voigt is a hero for many who offer the "clean era" theory, since many grew up as July fans and he is the hero of the July fans.

There are still loads of people who believe he is clean for some reason, probably because they like him and like with other dopers, those who believe in them tend to be fans who can't separate emotion from judgement.

Chapeau to Benson here, he played it well.

There are things Benson does that I don't agree with, but him I can respect far more than most others and often he does do the right thing.

Imo it's always positive to have someone asking critical questions, whether it is to new or old dopers. Jens Voigt acted like a fool in the interview and all but confirmed that he is or have been doping.

Now what I'd love is an interview with Chris Froome in the same style, but obviously that's not going to happen.

I didn't think Jens was all that bad. He didn't get angry or clam up or stick to boring platitudes. He all but admitted that he doped, but he doesn't come across as a ring leader or particularly obnoxious about it (greedily winning major races via an over the top program, bullying others into silence, etc.).

Do you feel bad about rolling through stop signs in your car or on your bike? Probably not, because everybody does it. This guy isn't a philosopher, so I can see how he might make a rough comparison to rule-breaking in other walks of life and leave it at that without questioning too deeply what's going on around him (or going into him).

I have thought this often, then almost immediately remember that rolling through the stop sign doesn't:
1. deprive others of income or even a job
2. force others to do the same if they wish to continue in their chosen job

The interview at times did make me chuckle, but then at other times made me think "Jens man, think before you speak"

The way he says Sagan and Froome were bairns when everyone was doping in the naughty era, so don't be looking at them or asking them.

We had this before with people like Millar. He was the bairn and look what happened to him?!

I want Jens to get popped before he ends his career.

He may be a nice guy but he has doped for a long time, too long and I want him popped. Like O'Grady, who will now always have a big *beside his name, always and I want Jens to have one, Kloden too, but since Kloden retired it is unlikely.
