Seriously you are comparing a wrist injury who did not prevent him from training, to a guy who was broken in a half and spent 2 weeks in a bed of hospital?! Let's be serious when we discuss this matter.

Good point. Pog had way less time, but was still very impressive. Put up a fight way longer in that edition.

He's done similar performances but he met stronger competition hense wasn't winning..

If he didn't race Roglic (who wasn't convincing but still...Roglic), he would win TA 2023. He would be top favourite for Catalunya 2024, and would possibly win it if it wasn't for Pogacar.

I asked the silicon oracle the obvious question:

Who could be Almeida’s Mou?​


Mou’s whole vibe is mythologizing Pogacar — turning him into a blend of warrior-poet, cycling messiah, and cosmic force of nature. It’s lyrical, semi-ironic, deeply committed, and wildly entertaining.


To match that energy for João Almeida, you'd need someone who:


  • Fully understands Almeida’s stoic, diesel-like aura
  • Sees romance in suffering, patience, and control
  • Treats Almeida’s time-trialling and steady climbs like holy rituals
  • Turns restraint into legend — like "he does not attack, for the mountain bends to him eventually"

I am not sure.

Buitrago has been struggling with allergies and has a lot of time to make up.

It is also the first race after injury for him.

Think he just wants some race days before Ardennes.
