I was off by a couple minutes, but not by much.7.2 Watts / Kg tomorrow for 36 minutes.
Next year those will be the numbers necessary to win the Tour.I was off by a couple minutes, but not by much.
I mean, that comes from rushing him back from an injury. The base isn't there, so he couldn't improve or even hold that monster shape.Vingegaard is finishing this Tour the way people expected him to start it form wise. Recency bias is a thing though, i.e. let's not forget his wild ride last week with his Le Lorian win.
Instead of a curve from underpowered to overpowered, he's done the reverse. Now he'll get the public sympathy vote (tears & all) which all the runners up enjoy in the Tour.
Pretty crazy that he got to that level on Beille.I mean, that comes from rushing him back from an injury. The base isn't there, so he couldn't improve or even hold that monster shape.
I mean, they also supercharged Son Jorge for Beille, they tried to go all in.Pretty crazy that he got to that level on Beille.
If the second half of this Tour is the new normal for cycling, Vingegaard will improve for year. How much depends on what the new limits are.
I don't think Jonas is the form of his life. He's missing 100 hours of base training.Pog and the improving Remco aside - JV has put 10 minutes into the field
He is in the form of his life - it's just that Pogacar is too - and he hasn't been helped that his team is weaker than in 2022 and 2023 - and TP's team much stronger
he's riding the race of his life - all the figures support this - but he's come up against the greatest Tour performance ever.I don't think Jonas is the form of his life. He's missing 100 hours of base training.
He's lacking endurance.he's riding the race of his life - all the figures support this - but he's come up against the greatest Tour performance ever.
"Lacking endurance", hmmm ... He's 2nd in the GC! Did his best numbers ever on stage 15 and - so far- hasn't really cracked at any point. 10+ minutes ahead of everyone in the GC except Pogacar and Evenepoel. He's lacking endurance.
exactly the guy is flying. I believe he would have taken time out of Remco today but was so demoralised by what TP was doing to him he decided merely to defend second."Lacking endurance", hmmm ... He couldn't follow Tadej because he cannot do his best numbers day after day. Third week is when he should be best."Lacking endurance", hmmm ... He's 2nd in the GC! Well, difficult to know how good he would have been with optimal preparation. The fact that he can make it to the TdF podium with a month and a half of training post-ICU is certainly "miraculous" to use Visma's term.He couldn't follow Tadej because he cannot do his best numbers day after day. Third week is when he should be best.
He's clearly missing something.
I'm glad we're not buying this "poor guy" narrative here. He would shatter TdF every other year. it's just that Pogacar is on a different planet.
I like this analogy. We're all essentially burnt out jazz prodigies playing whisky bars on the weekends and the only reason we didn't chart is because we didn't sell our soul to The Man. And everything was better in the 60s and 70s when actual talent determined success.Vingegaard is basically the Susan Boyle of pro-cycling whilst Pog is the Spice Girls, i.e. both aimed at different audiences... but are equally full of sh*t.
The last sentence is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read in this forum, well playedVinge is a "sensitive monster"... i.e. he cries a lot.
As participants in this reality tv show called the Tour de France, people chose their favorites & get influenced by all sorts of stuff.
Some of it is real, some is just part of the marketing. I mean I won't even go into the rider threads in the main forum right now because people (on all sides, i.e. whether they're pro or anti certain riders) all seem to be buying into the spectacle in some way or another.
But with regards Vingegaard, imagine if Pog had DNF'd or not been at this level? We would have been bombarded with propaganda about Vinge's miraculous recovery from the ICU & the images of his tears & family hugs as he wins the Tour would have been shoved down our throats, mercilessly.
