It's just the provisional startlist, but I think this was always the most likely outcome. Stick to the plan, focus on the Tour.

TDF is also important for Pogacar and Remco.

I don't like this return to the Armstrong calendar. One thing it´s to have a reduced calendar or only one-week races, but not even Froome did this.
Visma also says that it isn´t certain that he´ll go to Dauphine.

I also don't think it's right to sell the idea that he does this because he cares about the Tour, as if his rivals didn't care.

Indurain only cared about the Tour in his own words, but he did two years of Giro-Tour.

When he's in shape he's the best GT rider there is, but it's disappointing not seeing him ride more this spring. Could've been a fun battle between Vingegaard/Almeida/Evenepoel in Romandie. It also fits the calendar really well, and it's not like he's been on the road all of spring and needs to be with his family.

Ironically, his riders are skipping monuments where they hava a real shot in, and plenty of races where they could've started without hurting their season.

As I said before, he is trying to artificially create the wish for the best riders facing off more often by withholding his best riders from a lot of races.

Yeah Romandie absolutely has the best field out there in terms of prestige.

I doubt it would serve the Tour bid to race it, so it's fairly logical to skip it.

Armstrong raced way, way more than Vingegaard. It's not even comparable. It's a bit of an urban myth in cycling discussions because whilst yes he focused everything on the TdF so his results elsewhere were just 'placeholders' basically and spinning his wheels but take the 2001 season for example (L.A.'s prime, basically), i.e. he had around 30 race days in his legs before the Tour that year. Vingegaard meanwhile between the TdF 2024 and the TdF 2025 (aka a full year) will have done the following: DNF'd San Sebastian, won the Tour of Poland, won Algarve, DNF'd Paris-Nice and raced the Dauphiné.

I mean he's literally barely racing. And that's without injuries as well (over that period there's only been the PN concussion situation).

I think he doesn't love cycling, I get the impression he looks to professional cycling as a job and only cares about his biggest goal (Tour de France). His crash had a huge impact on his mental health, probably thinks the danger of cycling is not worth it anymore (the glory of winning races is not enough compared to the risk of losing his family), specially if you are risking your life on a descent.

Unclear for how long his crash bothered him, but I still think that he has been fine for weeks and that this is merely to say that at the start of the planned build-up, there are no excuses for summer.

He was supposed to have 19, so less than half.
And you can't compare classicomanos with stage racers. It is not the same to race PR compared to race a flat stage in TA. Both just add one day of racing but doing PR is harder than doing 3 or 4 flat stages in a row.

Rog will be at 33 race days at the start of the TdF. In fact the whole reason he only has 12 so far is because he's riding the Giro.

Number of race days doesn't tell the full story either because one day races are spread out, which means the riders on the list like Pog, WvA, MvdP etc. feature prominently throughout the spring even when the actual number of race days isn't that high.

The way I see it is Vinge isn't 'scared' of racing or anything like that. I'd say he's more demotivated, i.e. he's only interested in riding when he's got his really good legs.
