I wouldn't argue about who gets the best scraps tbh.

Pog is on another planet and everyone else is seen as mortal by comparison.

Because you are comparing a specialist (Ganna) to a generalist (Pogacar). While Evenepoel (generalist) and Vingegaard (GT rider) are much more similar to each other.

Remco does not race classics, nor is one of the best climbers. He defends himself in the mountains. He has gotten beaten more in GC in many races against many different riders, than he has won them.

He is not a (generalist).

He is great in flat ITTs, hilly one-day races and can ride GC when he has had perfect prep. He does not go well on all terrain though or is one of the best at multiple ones.

Also, why is his GT-win looking like an anomaly while he has since then finished on the podium of the Tour behind two guys who are widely regarded as (being amongst) the best GT-riders in the history of the sport and he has ridden a Giro where it definitely looked like he would compete for the win before he had to abandon due to Covid?

Looking back at Trine's comments about racing too much, altitude camps and the likes puts things into perspective and really underlines how ridicolous that article was in the first place - there is absolutely no chance other than preparing 100% optimally for a race like this against Pogacar. You can't have the best of both worlds if you want to beat Pogacar, and you probably can't beat him anyways, but this is not the Jonas of 22-24. This is the Jonas of "hey, I imporved my explosiveness for absolutely no other reason than keeping it close until the mountains".

I wonder how Jonas and Visma feels about this. Grischa was very honest about it all, but haven't heard a bleep from Jonas who most likely was very, very disappointed. Matteo was defeated, no excuses.

Evenepoel literally won WC, LBL and Vuelta in the same year, and a year later WC ITT. The only thing he hasn't ridden yet is on cobbles. He clearly is a generalist.

That doesnt mean he is a generalist. He is not consistent. It is circumstantial in his case.

If by the term classics you mean cobbled classics, then there are no few but only Pogacar, and we must go 30 years in past to find another one.

@Logic-is-your-friend 2.5 kg difference is really a lot. I agree it makes no sense then to do the climb on a TT bike. I guessed the difference was smaller than that (but I have no specific knowledge about it) and it was closer to a borderline case.

In 2010 I had my Look 596 i pack TT bike built up 7.6 kg. Nothing fancy. Zipp wheels. Campy gruppo.
