I guess they are the kind of people that think internal competition is the only way to keep your people at their best.
Well if that is UAE’s strategy it doesn’t make any logical sense. UAE have had their backsides handed to them by Visma two successive years at the Tour. The reason for that was Visma had a super strong leader and a team all working for that leader when it counted. So Vingegaard could deliver when it really mattered.

Pogacar is trying to do what nobody hasn’t achieved in 26 years. Ayuso has shown nothing to suggest he can’t wait at his young age.

The closest similarity to Alison is can think of is Andy Schleck. Andy came 2nd at the Giro when he was only 22. But Andy didn’t get greedy with ambition, he knew his time would come. Otherwise I doubt Carlos Sastre would have won the 2008 Tour.

And I don’t think anyone can question Pogacar’s motivation. He doesn’t need competition from within his own team he has plenty at Visma.

More or less gifted rider but no generational talent but he walks like he is the new Pogacar. With some luck he can win a GT, I hope he will never accomplish much. Every rider is not blamable for being born with more or less genetic prowess but character is something you are responsible for. And Ayuso just sucks at that departament.

Or maybe management is just too conflict averse to try and handle affairs .

Really curious if today means he'll be third to last in the UAE train, coming before Almeida and Yates. Surely he has to burry his own gc hopes now.

Who cares? All he's thinking now is how to pull a Pereiro.
Who's this generations Jens Voigt?

Abrahamsen maybe?(okay maybe he is more the Voigt of this edition and not generation, Pollitt might be obvious answer, but he is a TM)

He is currently 12th in the UCI and CQ rankings, and 13th in the PCS one. Only five teams other than his own have anyone rated higher than him in any of these.

If he is a clown, you must have a very low opinion of 95% of the professional peloton.
Based on attitude, not physical capacities on the bike.

The covid situation for riders in the peloton seems to be a tricky one. So if you're starting to feel better, and you've been cleared to race, but you're positive for covid, how are your colleagues going to feel when you start riding next to them?

Ayuso rode the '22 Vuelta with covid as well. Not everybody in the peloton was happy with that.
Nope. I mean if you think of a non-sporting workplace, if you showed up to work with a mild sniffle and confirmed covid, and told people you're viral load was low so it was OK, I don't think that would go over very well.
