While I still have my doubts about Ayuso, there are some that seem a bit too eager in writing him off as a GT winner.

Its true that his development in the last two seasons hasn't exactly been great but its also worth remembering that he had his fair share of bad luck in those seasons and yet at 22, he has already stepped into a GT podium, got a top5 and won one of the big7 one week stage races.

It remains to be seen if he will be able to win this Giro but he does seem to have improved this season, even though Tirreno and especially Catalunya will tell us more about that.

Damn, Catalunya will have a very good start list. Ayuso, Yates, Vingegaard, Roglic...also Landa, Mas, Carapaz..

I mean, mentioning these mere mortals alongside Vingegaard is ridiculous but yeah.

What is considered Ayuso's best climbing performance to date?
Something from the 2022 Vuelta?

This guy is obnoxious. He is blaming his team for being alone and having to respond to everyone. My biggest hope in the giro is seeing this guy getting destroyed in the mountains.

He is not so likable I agree. But to be fair he is right today. He should have had 2-3 teams mates.

Good win, but he didn't seem to have supersonic legs today. Will be interesting to see the Giro dynamics. Del Toro seems to be able to support him but yeah, Yates ain't going to do it.

I feel like he's too hot right now and going to fade at the Giro.
Possibly or he has simply taken big step forward in his development. Impressive today and also impressive from Del Toro to work hard to shred the lead group, recover and then slalom his way back through the field to finish well inside the top 10.

That indicates every single rider are capable of improving more? And thats false they arent, hence w/kg is a better indicator of measuring a riders level.

Say hello to Froome, Quintana, Bernal and the list goes on. W/kg alone and only isnt everything indeed but its better than what your saying.
No it levels out factors such as overall fatigue, and overall performance levels. Doing 6.8 W/kg for 20 minutes more impressive when the rest is doing 6 rather than doing 7 W/kg. It would also take out systematic estimation errors.

It also levels out fluctuation of level year by year. Contador doing 6.7 on Verbier was insane at the time. Now it would be mundane. They're not the same.

If you care only about W/kg, you gauge riders not by their actual level, but by stupid stuff like "did they race some hilarious unipuerto stages this year".

lol no time gaps are hilarius.contador performances would still be great today.why do you think every pro team does watts, not time gaps.this aint 63 anymore.you can easy see overall level went up directlly from watts.
