Juan Ayuso discussion thread

It was very obvious what he was doing at the time, and still is. He was saying UAE should go for Del Toro as a leader.
Obvious to who? To me it looked like he was congratulating a young team mate who'd just taken the pink jersey, much like he congratulated Ayuso when he won a stage. And considering the fact that UAE kept riding for Ayuso for a long time, when many on here were saying they should be committing to del Toro, I struggle to believe there was some sort of anti-Ayuso conspiracy theory going on at the time. I can't believe the amount that is being read into a pretty innocuous Instagram post, I genuinely thought I'd missed something super scandalous.

Obvious to those who don't like Pogacar just because their favorite riders can't stay with Pogacar for 10 seconds in a uphill finish.

I feel that in the 2026 season indeed Ayuso and del Toro will get compared much. The way things are gearing up i guess Pogi will be the scapegoat if Ayuso will do better. But note that this will get done by the same sports media/fandom that extensively used Ayuso as scapegoat, due to that being convenient. Bar of course die hard Pogi fans, some of them willingly participated in it too.

Is hell gonna freeze?
Ayuso pulling in the peloton in the penultimate climb, for 2,7km. He got about 2 full minutes back from the break.
The peloton is now around 15 men.

Good job.
One swallow doesn't make a summer.

I think he should have shown as helpful to Pogacar on a few occasionally in recent years. He chose the freedom and I wish him the best in the new team as a leader. We need more competition in cycling for sure.

He aint making no decision lol. He simply just likes Del Toro better and thats hardly surprising given the races he has ridden with Toro and Ayuso, and thats it.
One thing is personal management, Del Toro is a very good mountain bike and gravel rider, has a decent sprint. Upcoming goals for Pogacar like Strada, Roubaix, other classics, Del Toro is a good fit. Although close in age to Ayuso , Del Toro plays the game entirely different, not full of himself, at every opportunity downplays personal ambitions, every opportunity reinforced team, dedicated to service for greater good of the team. Del Toro doesn't miss an opportunity to be generous, multiple times this year, in Austria he played same role as Giro, reluctant leader. And he graciously gifted Villafranca to Igor Arrieta for his first, one and Visma only pro win.
Isaac Del Toro is listening when a near 27 year old Pogacar is hinting at some burnout. Almeida also 27.. Where Ayuso might feel impatient and crowded, Del Toro is happy to enjoy what he is given and wait his turn without turmoil and complaining. Don't know about all the claims about obvious Del Toro superiority to Juan Ayuso but getting along, following instructions, humility and maturity, Del Toro way better than Ayuso.

Now that Ayuso is out del Toro already saying he will race against Pogi at Worlds.
Shocking: Pro cyclist doesn‘t collude with other cyclist at Worlds!

Why wouldn't he race against Poga? They're not from the same country...

@Berniece

I don't want to think about what you'd be saying if Ayuso had won a World Cup and Pogacar hadn't congratulated him.Ayuso didn't even congratulate him for last year's TDF, where he was part of the team, briefly, but he was part of the team and couldn't post a message.
The year after, Pogacar posts a message of congratulations to Ayuso, and the problem is that you don't like how it went. If he hadn't posted it, like Ayuso, the problem would be that he's not posting it. By the way, Pogacar hasn't posted any message for either Vine or Soler. Stop treating Ayuso like a child who needs special treatment. He never congratulates Pogacar. He hasn't even posted anything for the 2025 Tour, although Pogacar had to congratulate him for a stage, and you're all accusing him of not liking it.

The worst part is not posting anything about Tour2024 because he was part of the team.

By the way, what you never mention is that Pogacar and Urska, to help Ayuso in the face of criticism, published a post before Lombardia where they were training with Ayuso, to normalize the situation and help Ayuso.
That's not worth mentioning because they wanted to help him.

Left the discussion of congratulations because it's ridiculous. The one who looks worse is Ayuso. It's not in his best interest to discuss this childish analysis of Instagram posts.
