Junior racing - The stars of the future

Does anyone know how it unfolded today?
It looks like it was a dominant performance by Grégoire, but that might be the whole story.
Basically, Gregoire did a smart attack and was super strong while Uijtdebroeks and Martinez looked at each other. Gregoire had a teammate in front who pulled a bit for him when he came across but other than that he was really, really good today. Behind the two looked at each other and Martinez didn't want to do all the work alone only to be jumped by Uijtdebroeks, while Uijtdebroeks attack but couldn't shake Martinez. Thats until the last climb when everything was too late for them and Martinez was freezing (rain and a bit cold weather) and finally dropped by Uitjdebroeks. Martinez also said afterwards that Uitjdebroeks didn't believe him that he was dead and thought that Martinez wanted him to do all the work.

So yeah, basically a combination of Gregoire being really good and those two playing around. How much each of those contributed is anyones guess.

Looks like Uijtdebroeks wasn't amused.

The funny thing is that race commentators on DirectVelo's Youtube channel thought Uijtdebroecks had won the race, until the race organizer himself told them the news a couple minutes after the finish.

Mmm; at least direct velo didn't mention any attack from Cian in the first race (attacks not worth mentioning and/or the direct velo guys missed some events from the race - which happens often ;-)).
Sounds like a normal junior race discussion where some people think it is like adult racing, but it is not....

Auto Eder team tactics were pretty abysmal at this race. And yes, there was at least one instance where Hajek/Schrettl (I think) chased down Uijtdebroeks/Martinez while they had Gregoire and a few others in their wheel. So, as far as what we could follow from outside (Directvelo) Uijtdebroeks gap could've been a bit bigger on the final stage to Gregoire. But him and Martinez still threw it away on their own by looking at each other. They had more than enough time to ride and talk about the situation.
Auto Eders problem is that basically every member can score results at this races, and as mentioned above, we're still at Junior racing, so that can quickly result in chaos and everyone thinking a bit too much for himself. Especially when there are riders who are still searching for a big International result.

For the first time in more than twenty years, an Irish kid seems to be among the best juniors. Darren Rafferty. I knew his name as national jr TT champion but nothing else about him.

It seems he was supposed to spend the Summer in France riding for Team 31 Jolly Cycles (if you are a seriously good junior there’s not going to be enough real competition in Ireland) but crashed in May and broke a load of bones. He got over there in July and then in eight weeks won about ten races culminating in the junior version of Plouay yesterday. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=129150

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Dunbar a beast in both the junior and the u23 ranks?

He also finished 2nd in the Pfänder time Trail (Mens classification) which is 6 km with an average of nearly 10% in 20:10 minutes. I think he will develop to a Mountain specialist/ GC driver but there is still a long way to go. In comparison to the likes of Buchmann he seems to be way more explosive.
Next race seems to be GP Rübliland where he is clearly among the favorites given bis current form.

He seems to be a lot better in normal TTs than a young Buchmann, more of a cassic german gc rider.

First win of the season for Emil Herzog in Giro di Primavera, beating Vlad Van Mechelen by 1'27'' after a solo in the last lap of the race.

I'm expecting big things from Herzog this year.

Apart from him and Van Mechelen, anyone has any references for other big names of the category for this season?

Would be interested in additional information regarding the Junior races so far as well. Did just follow the latest results.
I expect Emil Herzog to have a breakout season as well and maybe fight for a Bora Contract Next Year. Even though I think this will be more difficult with Lührs getting a contract for the actual season.
