Iban approves!
It is relatively easy to get a diagnosis of hypothyroidism from over training and lack of rest.
The symptoms are quite devastating. Chronic fatigue, hair loss, weight gain, bitchy ollox,
leathery skin etc. etc.
Recovery is possible if training ceases, but a total cessation makes the symptoms worse
and in fact, very light training will lead to an improvement. It can also affect the mind
and mimics bi-polar, high-low, no sleep, then loads of sleep, lasts months and then clears
with the spring and the bull is back by summer.
Seen as so many cyclists, even pros. overtrain, it is likely to be true.
A&E informed me that cyclists are some of the worst for overdoing it
and the least likely to listen to advice.
